Xbox One August Update

Microsoft is in the process of rolling out the August Update for the Xbox One. Several of these features are actually pretty cool and we at Geek Legacy are eager for the update to make its way onto our consoles. Xbox Live’s Major Nelson uploaded a video last night showcasing the update’s key features. We’ve provided additional information below in case you zone out during the video.

August Update Includes:

  • Updates to the Activity Feed – Now a single column with the ability to post messages to your feed and to “like” and comment on feed items. You can share game clips with friends either publicly or privately.
  • SmartGlass will allow you to see what your friends have shared on their activity feed as well as “like” posts.
  • Mobile purchases – via SmartGlass or on Xbox.com players can remotely purchase games and Add-on content. The Xbox One can be set to automatically download updates and purchases, so you can begin downloading when you’re not home and enjoy them later.
  • Low battery notification – An alert will pop up when your controller battery is almost out of juice.
  • Disable notifications during video – Because they’re super annoying. The update also features the ability to turn off each of the notifications types during video playback.
  • Enabling 3D Blu-ray – For all five people on the planet with a 3D TV.
  • The friends list will now show how long it’s been since a friend has been online.
