X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST may bring back some more old friends

We reported in October that original X-Men director Bryan Singer was going to replace X-Men: First Class helmer Matthew Vaughn on X-Men: Days of Future Past. Then just last week we reported that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan had agreed to reprise their roles as Professor X and Magneto respectively. Then later it was reported that Hugh Jackman was in talks to bring Wolverine back to the X-Men. Now The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Singer and Co. are reaching out to other members of the original X-Men films. They mention Halle Berry (Storm) and James Marsden (Cyclops) as examples. They also state that the film will shift between the 1960’s X-Men featured in 2011’s First Class and a future version of Singer’s original X-Men. With the primary focus being on the First Class team. Since the parts will be smaller, it should be easier to get a lot of cameos.

First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are already confirmed to be returning, and it’ll be fun to see how Singer balances the 1960s storyline with the future-set scenes. Stay tuned, I’m sure we’ll hear more casting additions as we move closer to the film’s April production start-date. X-Men: Days of Future Past opens on July 18, 2014.

If he can pull it off, Singer will be a geek god. So here’s hoping he hasn’t bitten off too much. I for one am extremely excited. I’m a lifelong X-Men fan and love the originals… even parts of Last Stand.
