William Shatner and STAR TREK 3 Director Roberto Orci Respond to Shatner/Leonard Nimoy Reunion Rumors

Just two days ago, a rumor surfaced claiming that Roberto Orci was going to give squeezing William Shatner into the new Star Trek film franchise another go.  Leonard Nimoy made his way into both the 2009 Star Trek reboot and 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness, however, Shatner’s scene from Star Trek was cut and he never became part of Star Trek Into Darkness either.

If the latest rumor is true, Shatner will finally get some screen time in Star Trek 3, but neither Shatner nor Orci are willing to confirm that the Shatner/Nimoy reunion is legit.

star-trek-into-darkness-zachary-quinto-chris-pine3-600x400Orci took to to offer his thoughts on the whole thing.  First he wrote:

“love no win scenarios. In theoy, damned either way.”

The next day, he added:

“Not in my interest to confirm or deny anything because it limits my options while maintaining my integrity as a truth teller.

The movie is not the movie till it is in the theater. Until then, everything is a rumor.”

Shatner used Twitter to post his response:

On the bright side, neither Shatner nor Orci flat-out deny it, but they’re still not confirming that Shatner and Nimoy really will re-team as Kirk and Spock in the new movie either.  The original report claims that their appearance is “plot-driven and integral enough that it might just survive any future revisions,” but we also must heed Orci’s warning; the movie isn’t done until it’s in theaters, so anything can change.
