Will Disney Make More Indiana Jones Films? Crack that Whip!

Indiana-Jones

Variety reported on Friday that Disney made a deal with Paramount for distribution and marketing rights to future Indiana Jones films. Keep in mind, Disney already has ownership rights to the four previous Indy films from when the powerhouse mouse acquired Lucasfilm.

Paramount will continue to distribute the first four films and gain a monetary cut from future installments (if any) to the Indiana Jones franchise. So what does the future hold for Indiana Jones fans?

In October, there was a rumor was floating around that Harrison Ford would agree to reprise his role as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII, if Disney committed to making another Indiana Jones film. In Hollywood, rumors like this are tossed around on a regular basis, but after this deal I’m inclined to get caught up in the pot stirring.

Last Spring, some of us at Geek Legacy got into a classic nerd-off arguing which Indiana Jones film was the best. I had the pleasure of fighting for The Last Crusade and honestly believe I won. Hands down.

How about it geeks? Are you ready for Indiana Jones to don the fedora once again. By the time we get to see Dr. Jones in action, Harrison Ford (71), will likely be pushing 75 or older. I’m not entirely certain how many 75 year old men could outrun a rolling boulder. Although, Harrison Ford is such a grumpy goose these days, he’ll probably just yell at the massive rock instead of run from it.
