Wii U Spring Update

During today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast, President Satoru Iwata announced the Wii U update will arrive next week. As promised the load times for the Wii U will be significantly decreased. A few weeks ago, we posted a video showing a side-by-side comparison before and after the update.

Wii U update features

  • Auto-install software in the background while you play another title.
  • Ability to copy and move data between two USB drives.
  • Pressing B when turning your Wii U on will also send it directly to Wii mode.
  • New standby function will let the Wii U continue to download and install software even after you’ve turned it off.

Additionally, the the Virtual Console will be made available the day after the update, and all games will be available to play off-TV on the GamePad.
