Weekend Box Office, top 3 unchanged, Brad Pitt goes out softly

Posted on December 3, 2012 at 8:08 am by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

It was deja vu all over again at the ox office this weekend.  For the third straight week the top 3 at the Box Office remained the same.  This is only the second time this feat had been accomplished (Avatar, Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel did it in January 2010).  Brad Pitt’s latest film Killing Them Softly was heavily panned by critics, and was his worst opening weekend in over a decade.  Rise of the Guardians and Life of Pi both also continued to underperform, but they should do well overseas so their fate is still up in the air.  In better news, Argo passed $100 million making it the first Ben Affleck film to do so since 2003’s Daredevil.

1. Breaking Dawn Part 2 $17,400,000 $254.5
2. Skyfall $17,000,000 $246

4. Rise of the Guardians $13,500,000 $48.9
