I am fortunate to have small kids so I have a built in excuse to watch Phineas and Ferb.  Most people assume it it’s a kids-only thing due to the rather goofy animation and the fact that it airs on the Disney Channel, but if Shaun and Ed from Shaun of the Dead are on it, it’s got to have a more mature appeal too, right? If you’ve never seen an episode of the show the Halloween season special, “Night of the Living Pharmacists,” might be a fun jumping off point. According to IGN the episode is inspired by Night of the Living Dead and involves a Doofenshmirtz invention (which are called Inators) that turns the citizens of Danville into Doof-zombies.  As you can tell by the clip below, they’re highly contagious:

“Night of the Living Pharmacists” will also feature the voice of Night of the Living Dead director George Romero as reporter Don Adaded as well as Noah Wyle and Bella Thorn.  Modern Family’s Ariel Winter will return as Fireside Girl and Cloris Leachman will reprise her role of Mrs. Feyersied, too.  The one-hour special will debut on Saturday, October 4th at 8pm on the Disney Channel as part of the “Monstober” event.

Here’s a description of the show:

Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher, set out to conquer boredom and make every day of their 104-day summer vacation count, in Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning animated comedy series, “Phineas and Ferb.”  However their older sister, Candace, gets frantic at her brothers’ extraordinary adventures and makes it her life’s work to tattle on them to Mom and Dad … but somehow she’s never quite able to prove what the boys have done.  Phineas and Ferb are accompanied by their pet platypus, Perry, who seems to be a docile, mindless family pet, but unbeknownst to everyone, including Phineas and Ferb, Perry has a secret life as suave Agent P, deftly battling the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz to save the world.
