Warner Bros Confirms Superman and Batman Movie for 2015

At Comic Con’s Hall H today, Warner Bros. and Zach Snyder confirmed that after a Man of Steel sequel, there will be another film that brings Superman and Batman together at last on the big screen. According to the press release, Snyder and David S. Goyer will be working on the screenplay, and the film is set to hit theaters sometime in the summer of 2015.

Although we’ve just wrapped up Christopher Nolan’s Batman, apparently the Batman of this new film will not be one and the same, although Nolan will be acting as an executive producer on the film. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburn, and Diane Lane are slated to make a reappearance in the new film, though Batman still hasn’t been cast, so it’s anyone’s guess what this new Caped Crusader will be like. Considering the darker tone that Man of Steel took, no doubt the new Batman will still bear a striking resemblance to Christian Bale’s most recent iteration.

From the press release:

Zack Snyder, who made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con today, breaking the news to audiences there, later said, “I’m so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can’t wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.”

Batman is my favorite superhero of all time, so I can’t get enough of him. At the same time, we just finished the Dark Knight Trilogy, and I kind of feel like the guy could use a breather. Much like with the many iterations of Spiderman and the Hulk, I’m not convinced that we need to see the same origin stories over and over. If they can introduce Batman in a new and interesting way, and also do away with rehashing his backstory, I’d definitely be more interested in watching. No matter what, though, it’ll probably still be a huge box office success.

So what do you guys think? Are you excited for Superman and Batman to team up? Leave us a comment!
