Xbox One May Update

The Xbox One May update is finally here and with it is the ability to send voice messages to your friends. Simply click the microphone icon in the messages menu and you may record using your headset or Kinect. You can even send messages between Xbox One and Xbox 360! Other key features include powering on and off your Xbox One console using the SmartGlass app and eventually we’ll see dedicated servers for party chat.

May 2015 Update:

  • Voice Messages – Send and receive voice messages from the Xbox One messages app.
  • Power On/Off from Xbox One SmartGlass – Power your Xbox One on and off when your devices are on the same home network as your console.
  • User Selectable Power Mode – Enable you to select your preferred power mode between Instant-on or Energy-saving mode.
  • Dedicated Servers for Party Chat – Currently only available to preview members, but this feature will soon open up to a broader audience after more fine tuning.
