The Walking Dead Escape

This year we try our best to survive The Walking Dead Escape at San Diego Comic-Con. We’re not going to lie and say it was a walk in the park. In fact, I was ready to throw up on several occasions. Of course I’m a little out of shape, but that didn’t stop me from running as fast as I could whilst zombie-dodging my way to the finish.

We tackled this beast using two cameras to record every moment from start to finish. Using a GoPro, we were able to capture my POV (point-of-view) by strapping the camera to my head. Our second camera was carried by Stephen Janes, who followed close behind me to capture the madness from a different perspective.

The makeup on the walkers was second to none. Each one of the participants looked amazing and I applaud each and every person involved with the entire process. Putting an event like this together has to be a ton of work and our encounter went by without a hitch. Throughout the escape, we came in contact with several unique characters ranging from military personnel, medical staff, and hillbilly survivors that steered us in the right direction. At times it seemed a bit silly, but it was all in fun and I couldn’t keep from smiling.

The video you’re about to watch was edited down from 45 minutes. I’m sure you can imagine the amount of stress, terror, and overall joy this event can bring to a person. We certainly had a blast and I would recommend joining the festivities the next time The Walking Dead Escape visits a town near you.

Visit the official website for The Walking Dead Escape for more information on participating, volunteering, and upcoming tour dates. Best of luck to you and your loved ones. You’re going to need it.
