V/H/S Viral Trailer Isn’t Fooling Me

Twice! Twice! That is the amount of times I have been fooled into wanting to see these movies but I say nay! You shan’t reel me in again! At least not right away…

The trailer for V/H/S Viral shows a recap of the previous two movies and heads into the main wrap around story of several teens seeking out internet fame and fortune. The trailer, as usual, has a ton of really cool camera effects and tricks that gives each story it’s trademark realism. The segments are directed by Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl, the incredible The ABCs of Death segment “D Is for Dogfight”), Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial), Gregg Bishop (The Other Side, Dance of the Dead), Todd Lincoln (The Apparition), as well as Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Resolution, Spring).

These films promise a lot with their flashy tricks and marketing schemes but ultimately they just fail to have well told stories with actual thrills. Of course, maybe third time’s the charm? The directors seem promising based on their previous works so I could be eating my words when V/H/S Viral hits ondemand near me.

What doe you think? Did you like the first two? Are you still on board with found footage or should it just end already?
