Tyler’s Comic Corner – 9/30/15 Edition

Posted on September 30, 2015 at 6:00 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

gr4covMarvel Releases

Captain America White #2 (Of 5)
Cavalry S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1
E Is For Extinction #4
Ghost Racers #4
Hail Hydra #3
Inferno #5
M.O.D.O.K. Assassin #5 (Of 5)
S.H.I.E.L.D. #10
Secret Wars Secret Love #1
True Believers Spider-Woman #1
True Believers The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #1
X-Men ’92 #4

Perfect Pulls: Admittedly, there’s not much to talk about from Marvel today. A few good Secret Wars tie-ins (I’ve really enjoyed Ghost Racers and E Is For Extinction), and the latest issue of Captain America White, but that’s about it. That’s ok though, it just means more money to spend on the ton of DC stuff out today, right? Well, about that…

GLA4covDC Releases

American Vampire Second Cycle #10
Aquaman #44
Batman Annual #4
Batman Arkham Knight Annual #1
Grayson Annual #2
Green Lantern Annual #4
Justice League #44
New Suicide Squad Annual #1
Sandman Overture #6 (Of 6)
Superman #44

Perfect Pulls: … yeah, there’s not much here either. However, even with a smaller list than the already-tiny Marvel offerings, there’s a lot to be excited about. Batman Annual #4 brings Bruce back to stately Wayne Manor, Grayson Annual #2 teams Dick up with Superman, and Green Lantern Annual #4 answers all the questions you may have about how Hal got to where he is now. Throw in the latest chapter of Darkseid War in Justice League #44 and a new issue of Superman and this tiny list suddenly seems seriously loaded.

fum1covImage Releases

Drifter #8
From Under Mountains #1
Mantle #5
Morning Glories #48
Postal #7
Rasputin #9
Revival #33
Savage Dragon #207
Sex #24
Sons Of The Devil #5
Spawn #256
Spread #10
Stray Bullets Sunshine And Roses #8
They’re Not Like Us #8

Perfect Pulls: Lately it seems like Image has a monopoly on really great fantasy titles, and it looks like they’ll be adding another to that list today with From Under Mountains. A fantasy epic promising unlikely heroes, monsters, and more, which is really all I need to hear to make me check out your fantasy book. Also this week, the classic Image faces are well represented, with new issues of Image stalwarts Savage Dragon and Spawn.

Perfect Pulls: The indies are a bit light this week as well, but there’s certainly good stuff to be had. Of course, the highlight has to be The Fall of Harbinger; the Fall of… tie-ins to Valiant’s Book of Death event have honestly been the best part, and I can’t wait to see how Peter and Harada meet their ends. IDW has a lot to love for its Transformers fans, as well as the latest chapter of their Ghostbusters Get Real crossover

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, September 30th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
