Tyler’s Comic Corner – 9/23/15 Edition

Posted on September 23, 2015 at 6:00 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

kanan6covMarvel Releases

1872 #3
Captain Marvel And The Carol Corps #4
Deadpool Vs Thanos #2 (Of 4)
Fury S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1
George Romero’s Empire Of The Dead Act Three #5 (Of 5)
Inhumans Attilan Rising #5
Kanan #6
Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-Man Web Warriors #11
Runaways #4
True Believers Princess Leia #1
True Believers Silk #1
Weirdworld #4
X-Tinction Agenda #4
Years Of Future Past #5

Perfect Pulls: There have been a lot of new faces added to the Star Wars universe, but none that I’m happier to see than Kanan. It only took a few episodes of the outstanding Star Wars Rebels show for me to realize that Kanan was skyrocketing to the top of my “favorite Jedi” list, and believe me when I tell you that Marvel’s Kanan series didn’t hurt, either! If you haven’t been introduced to this character yet, I highly recommend you rectify that! This week also has plenty of Secret Wars tie-ins for you to get your fix with, including the excellent Inhumans Attilan Rising and one of my personal favorites, 1872.

war4covDC Releases

Astro City #27
Batgirl #44
Batman ’66 #27
Batman Endgame Special Edition #1
Deathstroke #10
Flash #44
Gotham By Midnight #9
Grayson #12
Harley Quinn And Power Girl #4 (Of 6)
He-Man The Eternity War #10
Justice League 3001 #4
Scooby-Doo Team-Up #12
Sinestro #15
We Are Robin #4

Perfect Pulls: Batman Day may not be until Saturday, but when you look at the DC shelf at your LCS today, you may think it came early! There’s lots of Bat-family love this week, with new issues of Batgirl, Batman ’66, Gotham by Midnight and the always-great Grayson. Also, along with those is a new issue of We Are Robin, which has quickly become one of my favorite new titles to come out of the DC You movement. If you’ve slept on this one, this week is a great time to collect the back issues and get caught up, because this title isn’t one you want to miss out on!

rum7covImage Releases

Elephantmen #66
Empty Zone #4
Invisible Republic #6
IXth Generation #5
Manhattan Projects The Sun Beyond The Stars #3
Mythic #4
Nameless #5
Oddly Normal #10
Reyn #8
Rumble #7
Tech Jacket #11
Thief Of Thieves #31
Tithe #5
Witchblade #184
Wolf #3

Perfect Pulls: Have you been reading Rumble? I know I’ve mentioned it here a few times, but it deserves being mentioned again.. and again… and maybe once more for good measure. Don’t blame me; it’s just that good! It’s unique (even by Image standards), pairs together excellent writing with unique and eye-catching art, and mixes fantasy, horror and the modern day together in a way that rivals peanut butter and chocolate on the “perfect mix” list. If you’ve been missing out, it’s time to change that!

Grimm Fairy Tales Presents Death 10th Anniversary Special #4

Perfect Pulls: Valiant’s Book of Death event rolls on today, with the reveal of just who’s been pulling the strings behind the scenes… but will that knowledge matter now that the damage has been done? The Valiant universe has been rocked to the core, and with a name like Book of Death, it’s safe to assume the ending won’t be a happy one! Also, you may want to check out Dark Horse’s Power Cubed. What happens when an 18 year-old kid gets his hands on what is essentially the Cosmic Cube, but everyone from the government to evil Nazi scientists know he has it? I don’t know, but I intend to find out!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, September 23rd. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
