Posted on September 21, 2016 at 12:00 pm by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: The fight is finally on in Civil War #5, as the two sides finally come together to solve their problems the only way people in tights and capes can: with their fists! I’m excited for this event to really start rolling, so I’m hoping this issue really starts moving it along. (Honestly, I’m mostly just excited to see anyone punch Carol Danvers in her sanctimonious face. She’s just the worst right now.) Also this week, we finally get to spend some more legit quality time with our friend Karnak, as we finally get a new issue of his killer solo book. And finally, don’t miss major revelations for two of Marvel’s flagships today, as The Mighty Thor reveals a new power for Mjolnir and International Iron Man unveils the truth behind who Tony’s parents really are!

trinity1covDC Releases

Aquaman #7
Batman #7
Cyborg #1
Doctor Fate #16
Green Arrow #7
Green Lanterns #7
Harley Quinn #4
Justice League #5
Lucifer #10
Nightwing #5
Raven #1 (Of 6)
Red Thorn #11
Suicide Squad Most Wanted El Diablo And Boomerang #2 (Of 6)
Superman #7
Trinity #1
Wonder Woman ’77 Special #4

Perfect Pulls: The Night of the Monster Men crossover event kicks off this week in both Batman and Nightwing, and I’m mildly excited for it. I say mildly because it feels a bit rushed, and “uh oh big monsters are coming” isn’t exactly my type of Bat-story. However, I think Hugo Strange is an underappreciated Bat villain, so anything that puts him back in the spotlight has me intrigued. On the flip side, I am 100% in for the debut of Trinity today. It’s been a long time since these three had a book of their own, and I’m thrilled we’re getting a new one, especially with Francis Manapul handling both writing and art.

Seven To Eternity #1

Wicked + The Divine 1831 #1 (One Shot)

Perfect Pulls: I’m all about Seven to Eternity, the latest new title from Image that’s on shelves today. A Rick Remender fantasy-ish tale paired with Jerome Opena’s art? You can bet your bottom dollar I’m checking that out. Fans of The Wicked and the Divine won’t want to miss the cool new one shot on shelves today, either. Take a trip to the 19th century and get your WicDiv fix all at the same time!

Perfect Pulls: IDW has a MASSIVE lineup of books out today, but the most important is Revolution #1, the start of their new mega-event that brings nearly all of their licensed worlds together with the promise of tearing them all apart! I’ve always been impressed with IDW’s events, and this looks to be their biggest yet, so definitely don’t miss out. Valiant also has a major debut today as well, with the premier issue of the much-anticipated Britannia on shelves today. And fans of Dark Horse’s take on everyone’s favorite Aliens won’t want to miss their latest offering, Aliens Life or Death.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, September 21st. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
