Posted on September 18, 2013 at 5:27 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: Infinity is well represented today, pushing us towards Inhumanity in a big way. Naturally Infinity #3 is the main attraction, but don’t miss out on New Avengers #10, Thunderbolts #15, or Captain Marvel #16, as all three are direct tie-ins to the event. The showdown between Doc Ock Spider and Spider-Man 2099 continues in Superior Spider-Man #18, and after the instant-classic Godbomb storyline, Jason Aaron begins his next Thor epic in Thor God of Thunder #13, with the return of Malekith the Accursed!

Superman #23.3 (H’el)
Swamp Thing #23.1 (Arcane)
Teen Titans #23.2 (Deathstroke)
Wonder Woman #23.1 (The Cheetah)

Perfect Pulls: We’ve hit week three of Villains Month, and this week in particular has a killer lineup (no pun intended). Superman villains new and old are represented well, as Lex Luthor reminds us why he’s the greatest in Action Comics, and H’el gets a chance to redeem himself in the pages of Superman. Some of Batman’s very best are also well represented, and Deathstroke and Black Hand are here as well. What’s particularly exciting, however, are some of the names we either haven’t seen before, or haven’t seen much of since the New 52. Eclipso? Finally! Shadow Thief? Cool! And who or what is Dial E, and how do they get top billing as a Justice League takeover? We find out today!

ZerofromImageImage Releases

Darkness #115
Great Pacific #10
Mice Templar IV Legend #7
Mind The Gap #14
Morning Glories #31
Peter Panzerfaust #14
Savage Dragon #191
Zero #1

Perfect Pulls: It’s a new Bounce week, so you know I’m already happy with the Image section of my local comic shop, and you should be too! Even if you aren’t reading that (which you should), there are still plenty of reasons to be happy, with Image greats like Morning Glories, Peter Panzerfaust and Mice Templar out today as well. Image also has another new title, Zero, telling the tale of a rule-busting spy out to stop a terrorist weapon that just may be alive; sounds like another instant Image classic!

Valiant Entertainment:

Harbinger #16
X-O Manowar #17

Perfect Pulls: Great books this week from the indies, both new and old. Pulp fans know that Dynamite has been reinventing the genre, and at the helm are their fantastic Shadow books. This week we get this year’s Shadow Annual, which brings Lamont and Margo to Vegas. The Shadow is heading the Vegas? I suspect he’ll see a lot of evil in the hearts of men. Dark Horse has two new titles worth investigating this week as well: Buzzkill is about a hero who only has powers when he’s drunk, and now wants to get clean, and Kiss Me, Satan involves a werewolf mafia. Yes, a werewolf mafia; if that’s not a reason to at least flip through the pages, I don’t know what is. Finally, three great books from Valiant this week. I’m particularly looking forward to the H.A.R.D. Corps invading the pages of Bloodshot, and X-O Manowar promises to begin setting up the next big event in the Valiant universe.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, September 18th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
