Tyler’s Comic Corner – 9/16/15 Edition

Posted on September 16, 2015 at 7:03 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: One of Marvel’s most prestigious traditions continues today! Joining the ranks of classics like Daredevil: Yellow and Spider-Man: Blue, this week sees the premier of Captain America: White, a chance to spend some quality time with a not-old Steve Rogers as Cap! Secret Wars is also well represented today, with a boatload of quality tie-ins, such as House of M, Spider-Island, Infinity Gauntlet, Age of Apocalypse and Secret Wars Journal. Finally, if the Star Wars bug has got you (like it has me), don’t miss out on a new issue of Star Wars and the penultimate issue of Lando!

Secret Six #6
Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #14
Superman Wonder Woman #21
Wonder Woman #44

Perfect PullsRobin Son of Batman has easily been one of the best books to come out of the DC You movement. I know, you think my unwavering love of Damian Wayne is why I’m saying that, but that’s not my only motivation. A unique story, fascinating new characters (oh Goliath, how I love you), and great writing and art from Patrick Gleason makes this an easy recommendation. Also this week, don’t miss out on new issues of Superman Wonder Woman, Green Lantern The Lost Army, and the impressive Martian Manhunter.

tg1covImage Releases

68 Last Rights #2 (Of 4)
Beauty #2
Death Vigil #8 (Of 8)
Fade Out #9
Invincible #123
Island #3
Manifest Destiny #17
ODY-C #7
Rat Queens #12
Secret Identities #7
Sex Criminals #12
Shutter #15
Southern Cross #5
Tokyo Ghost #1

Perfect Pulls: Oh man does the latest Image title sound awesome! Tokyo Ghost tells the tale of a future where we’re all addicted to technology (so, you know, not far from reality), and Tokyo remains the last bastion of nature in the world. I could tell you more about it, but it’s from Rick Remender and Sean Murphy, what more do I need to tell you than that?! If that doesn’t hook you, you must be crazy, but at least you can fall back on guaranteed hits like Invincible, Manifest Destiny, Secret Identities and Shutter to get your Image fix!

Perfect Pulls: How the hell the Dynamite sneak their latest offering past me until the day it released? A new Voltron book, written by Cullen Bunn? I don’t know how I missed that, but the idea of Bunn telling the tale of a new Voltron force coming together almost 200 years after the first team is something that will definitely get my money. Legendary also has a big premier that we teased before, so if you (like me) have been looking forward to the Infinity Adventures of Jonas Quantum, today is your day! Finally, don’t miss out on a triple-dose of goodness from Valiant and the latest issue of Archie’s killer Mega Man monthly!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, September 16th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
