Posted on August 5, 2015 at 5:30 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

dv8covMarvel Releases

Age Of Apocalypse #2
Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #3
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad #5 (Of 5)
Bucky Barnes The Winter Soldier #10
Civil War #2
Darth Vader #8
Future Imperfect #4
Giant-Size Little Marvel AvX #3
Groot #3
Guardians Of Knowhere #2
Guardians Team-Up #9
Infinity Gauntlet #3
Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble Season Two #10
Ms Marvel #17
Red Skull #2 (Of 3)
Spider-Island #2 (Of 5)
Ultimate End #4 (Of 5)

Perfect Pulls: If you’re a fan of all things Guardians, this is a good day for you. Along with another issue of Guardians Team-Up this week as well as last, there’s also a new issue of the Secret Wars tie-in Guardians of Knowhere, as well as the latest offering of the Groot solo title. Speaking of Secret Wars tie-ins, some of the best are represented this week, including the outstanding Civil War, the ludicrous Red Skull, the 90’s-tastic Age of Apocalypse and the always-classic Infinity Gauntlet. Throw in a new issue of the too-good-to-be-true Darth Vader and this week’s Marvel offerings are loaded!

gl43covDC Releases

American Vampire Second Cycle #9
Batman Beyond #3
Bat-Mite #3 (Of 6)
Detective Comics #43
FBP Federal Bureau Of Physics #23
Flash Season Zero #11
Green Lantern #43
Injustice Gods Among Us Year Four #7
Justice League Gods And Monsters Wonder Woman #1 (One Shot)
Lobo #9
Looney Tunes #226
Mad Max Fury Road Mad Max #2 (Of 2)
Midnighter #3
Omega Men #3

Perfect Pulls: Have I mentioned lately how much I love what’s going on in the pages of Green Lantern right now? Probably not since the last release, so I may as well continue the tradition! Renegade Hal Jordan is one of the most interesting things to happen to one of my favorite characters in ages, and every issue seems to make this storyline even cooler than the last. Even if you’re not a huge Lantern fan, I highly recommend checking out what’s happening with everyone’s favorite ring-slinging fighter pilot! Also this week, don’t miss out on the excellent Midnighter series, a new issue of the always beautiful Detective Comics, and the latest iteration of Batman Beyond.

dc1covImage Releases

8House #2
Airboy #3 (Of 4)
Artemis IX #1 (One Shot)
Dark Corridor #1
Deadly Class #15
Humans #7

Morning Glories #47
Nailbiter #15
Outcast #11
Savage Dragon #205
Sex #23
We Stand On Guard #2
Wicked + The Divine #13

Perfect Pulls: Image has been at the forefront of the movement to get more bad ass ladies into the hands of comic fans, and their newest title looks to be a prime example of exactly that. Dark Corridor is set in a fictional city that’s under the complete control of mobsters, but that control is beginning to slip, and it’s all thanks to mysterious female assassins that are making heads roll in the organization. Along with what looks to be another Image hit, this week also shines with new releases for Deadly Class, Jupiters Circle, the always glorious Wicked + The Divine, and the newest sensation We Stand On Guard, whose premier issue took the comic world by storm.

Perfect Pulls: If you (like me) found yourself sinking dozens of hours into The Witcher 3 on either PS4 or Xbox One, you know the Witcher universe is equal parts brutal and badass. If you’re itching for more Witcher in your life, I highly recommend the two miniseries based on the character from Dark Horse. The latest, Fox Children, ends today, and it’s just as outstanding as the previous mini as well. Definitely worth tracking down if you’re a fan! Also this week, don’t miss out on the latest issue of my favorite Valiant title Bloodshot Reborn, the latest version of one of geekdom’s favorite team-ups in Red Sonja Conan #1, and BOOM! Studios’ latest title, John Flood.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, August 5th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
