Tyler’s Comic Corner – 7/3 Edition

Posted on July 3, 2013 at 6:30 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

WHATIFAVX2013001_DC11_LR-1Marvel Releases

Avengers #15
Avengers A.I. #1
Daredevil Dark Nights #2 (Of 8)
Deadpool Kills Deadpool #1 (Of 4)
Emerald City Of Oz #1 (Of 5)
Guardians Of The Galaxy Tomorrow’s Avengers #1 (One Shot)
Iron Man #12
Red She-Hulk #67
Superior Foes Of Spider-Man #1
Thunderbolts #12
Venom #37
What If? AvX #1 (Of 4)
X-Men Legacy #13

Perfect Pulls: Hey, remember last week when I (and several other outlets) told you that Avengers A.I. #1 was coming out last week? Guess what, we were wrong! It turns out, last week’s release was actually Age of Ultron #10 A.I., which set up this week’s new ongoing series Avengers A.I., an error I blame solely on comicdom’s ludicrous numbering conventions! Along with A.I., there are a couple other new offerings this week from Marvel that are also worth checking out, particularly What If? AvX #1. Bringing back the awesome “What If?” format, this four part weekly series is going to show how differently AvX could have gone if the writers had been given the ability to do anything they wanted. In other words, expect a LOT of brutal deaths! Also, Superior Foes of Spider-Man starts this week, bringing together a new Sinister Six to ironically battle Doc Ock Spidey, and the Guardians of the Galaxy one shot brings together the four digital-only origin stories in print form, in case you missed them online.

Pandora-1-2DC Releases

Action Comics #22
Ame-Comi Girls #5
Batman Incorporated #12
Batwing #22
Detective Comics #22
Dial H #14
Earth 2 #14
Fairest #17
Green Arrow #22
Green Lantern #22
Legends Of The Dark Knight #10
Movement #3
Stormwatch #22
Swamp Thing #22
Trinity Of Sin Pandora #1

Perfect Pulls: The penultimate issue of the greatest Batman story ever told hits shelves today, with Batman Incorporated #12 showcasing the final confrontation between Batman and Talia. Morrison has promised that this time Batman has no limits, and we’ve seen that very clearly in previous issues, as well as other Bat-titles. What will Bruce do when face-to-face with the woman who killed his son? For once I really have no idea, but I’m sure as hell going to find out! Also starting this week is Trinity of Sin: Pandora #1, the start of a new ongoing series that also marks the beginning of the next big event out of DC, Trinity War. DC promises that the event starts over the death of someone important; will we see that death in this issue?

Five Weapons #5 (Of 5)
Invincible Universe #4
Mice Templar IV Legend #4
Satellite Sam #1
Spawn #233
Ten Grand #3
Thief Of Thieves #15

Perfect Pulls: Rejoice, there’s another hotly anticipated new title from Image this week! Satellite Sam #1 comes from the creative powerhouse that is Fraction and Chaykin, and promises to be the next huge hit from the house that always keeps them coming. In fact, this title has been so anticipated we even covered here on Geek Legacy before. Also this week, the excellent Five Weapons gets it’s final issue, another “new” Skullkickers hits, and the epic Ten Grand has a new release as well.
