Tyler’s Comic Corner – 6/15/16 Edition

Posted on June 15, 2016 at 4:13 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

HS1covMarvel Releases

Civil War II #2 (Of 7)
Civil War II X-Men #1 (Of 4)
Deadpool #14
Guardians Of Infinity #7
International Iron Man #4
Nova #8
Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat #7

Squadron Supreme #8
Star Wars #20
Star Wars Han Solo #1 (Of 5)
Uncanny Inhumans #10
Uncanny X-Men #8
Vote Loki #1
Year Of Marvels The Incredible #1

Perfect Pulls: There are few things I love in life more than Spider-Man, Star Wars, and major comic crossover events. Look at this list; it’s like Marvel is reading my dream journal! Between new issues of all three of my current favorite Spider-books (Amazing, Spidey, and Gwen), the debut of Han Solo (the greatest Star Wars character of all time), and the latest chapter of Civil War II, I’m in comic heaven today! Spider-fans will want to make sure they don’t miss the latest Amazing, by the way. That Dead No More thing that we’ve been seeing teased for what feels like ages now? It all begins here…

Batman-1-cover-8e246DC Releases

Astro City #36
Batman #1
Clean Room #9
Dark Knight Returns The Last Crusade #1 (One Shot)
Green Arrow #1
Green Lanterns #1
Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five #12
Justice League #51
Lucifer #7
New Suicide Squad #21
Poison Ivy Cycle Of Life And Death #6 (Of 6)
Scooby Apocalypse #2
Superman #1
Swamp Thing #6 (Of 6)
Titans Rebirth #1

Perfect Pulls: We’ve seen Rebirth, and we’ve had two weeks of Rebirth specials, and so far the general consensus seems to be “this is pretty great!” Words can’t describe how happy I am to see people shining a positive light on DC after years of abuse, and I don’t see any reason that will end this week. With the follow-up to the smash hit Green Arrow Rebirth on shelves today, Titans Rebirth promising to advance the overall story, and of course the debut of the new Batman flagship, it’s a good day for DC fans. Gotta hand it to you, DC… you may have turned this whole thing around after all, and no one is happier about it than me!

des12covImage Releases

Beauty #8
Circuit-Breaker #3 (Of 5)
Descender #12
I Hate Fairyland #6
Invincible #129
Lazarus #22
Low #14
Manifest Destiny #20
Pencil Head #5 (Of 5)

Perfect Pulls: Descender is back today… rejoice! One of my favorite Image books returns with a brand new story arc, and while I usually use that to suggest new readers come on board, I can’t do that with this one. Not because this isn’t a good time to jump in, mind you. I say it because this book is so good that it would be criminal not to start at issue #1. Grab back issues, trades, borrow someone’s copies… just read this book! You’ll thank me.

Perfect Pulls: I’ve always been a big fan of mixing the supernatural with a gritty detective. It’s like peanut butter and chocolate; two great things that go great together. Needless to say, that means I’m really looking forward to Dark Horse’s Weird Detective, out today. A setting I love, written by Fred Van Lente? Yes, please. IDW also has two new books that are guaranteed to be a hit with fans, including their latest Transformers offering, as well as Tales From the Darkside which reunites the Locke & Key creative team!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, June 15th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
