Tyler’s Comic Corner – 4/20/16 Edition

Posted on April 20, 2016 at 6:49 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: This week is filled with the titles that I never thought I’d love so much! We’ve got Karnak teaching me that he may actually be the coolest Inhuman. (Sorry, Black Bolt, I still love you too.) We’ve got Hyperion filling the Superman-archetype in the Marvel Universe better than The Sentry ever could. Perhaps most of all, we’ve got Totally Awesome Hulk, which is rapidly altering the “I’ll never love the Hulk” mantra I’ve always maintained. The new Marvel U is just full of surprises!

Wonder Woman #51

Perfect Pulls: I know I mention this every time it comes up on the list, but it constantly bears repeating: you need to be reading Superman Lois and Clark. To be honest, I’m going to stress it even more now that we’ve seen glimpses of the post-Rebirth DCU. I’m calling it now: the Superman in that universe is going to be the Superman in this book, and the new Superboy we see paling around with Damian Wayne is his son from this title. If I’m right, I’m going to be thrilled, and I want you to be too, so read this book!

CDCP1covImage Releases

Aloha Hawaiian Dick #1 (Of 4)
Chew Demon Chicken Poyo #1

East Of West #25
From Under Mountains #6
Huck #6
Invincible #127
Lazarus Sourcebook #1
Mirror #3
Savage Dragon #213
Snowfall #3
Switch #3
Tokyo Ghost #6

Perfect Pulls: Alright, the solicit for the final Poyo title in the Chew franchise is so funny that I simply have to put that here instead of coming up with something myself. “Hell wants him. Heaven won’t take him. Earth needs him. That was also the tagline for that godawful Constantine movie. But Poyo is so badass, he stole it from Keanu Reeves!” I may not read this series, but I tip my hat to what may be the best solicit I’ve ever read!

Also this week, Titan premieres their new Dark Souls title, and while I don’t play the games, I’m curious to find out if the comic will also kill you a billion times before you finish it.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, April 20th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
