Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: The Age of Ultron rolls on, and judging by the spoiler warnings littering the internet, something major happens in this issue. The question becomes, does it happen to the team traveling forward in time, or to the team heading backwards in time? We’ll have to check out this time-bending issue to find out. Also, been wondering where the X-Men have been during the event? We find out in Wolverine and the X-Men #27AU, the first X-book to tie directly to the event. We know from issues of AoU that Wolverine survived, but besides a few others there haven’t been many mutants seen, specifically none of the students from the school, so now we may find out why. Also, the fantastic Captain America and Nova get new releases this week, and check out Ock-Spidey take on the Avengers themselves in Superior Spider-Man #8!

He-Man-and-the-Masters-of-the-Universe_1_Full-665x1024DC Releases

Supergirl #19
Sword of Sorcery #7
Wonder Woman #19

Perfect Pulls: It’s finally here! After the overwhelming success and reception for the Masters of the Universe miniseries, one-shots and digital-only issues, DC’s ongoing monthly He-Man comic begins this week! If you’ve ever been a fan of the series, you owe it to yourself to check this out, and to grab every other DC He-Man releases if you missed them before. Justice League #19 made itself a must-read once the preview images were released from DC, featuring someone breaking into the Batcave itself. It’s also a good jump-on point for new readers, especially with Trinity War right around the corner. Finally, check out Nightwing’s adventures in a new city as he relocates to Chicago, and Wrath of the First Lantern continues in Green Lantern New Guardians #19.

Witchblade_Day-of-the-OutlawsImage Releases:

Chew #33
Cyber Force #4
Danger Club #5
Five Ghosts: The Haunting of Fabian Gray #2
Hoax Hunters #9
It Girl and the Atomics #9
Li’l Depressed Boy #16
Mara #4 (of 6)
Miniature Jesus #1 (of 5)
Revival #9
Thief of Thieves #13
Todd the Ugliest Kid on Earth #4 (of 4)
Witchblade Day of the Outlaw #1 (One-Shot)

Perfect Pulls: I am so excited about this Witchblade one-shot I can’t even tell you. To know me is to know I’m a big fan of the Wild West, and I constantly lament how it’s a time period that doesn’t get enough love in comic form. I’m also a big fan of The Darkness and anything that ties to that mythos. So combine the Wild West with a western Witchblade-wielder who has a duel a western Darkness and I am definitely on board! In a completely different vein, Miniature Jesus tells the story of a recovering alcoholic who’s hearing voices that might not be just in his head, and how an eight inch Jesus tries to find his place in the world, which is easily the weirdest thing I’ve ever typed in a Comic Corner. Worth checking out just to justify that sentence!

Evil Ernie #5
Green Hornet #35
Jennifer Blood First Blood #4 (of 6)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Villain Micro-Series Krang #1 (of 4)
Transformers Robots in Disguise #16
Vitriol the Hunter #3 (of 6)

Valiant Entertainment:
Bloodshot #10
X-O Manowar #12

Perfect Pulls: Lots of interesting new titles available this week from a few of the indie publishers. Dark Horse brings us House of Gold and Bones, inspired and written by the band Stone Sour and based on their album of the same name. From Dynamite comes Dark Shadows Year One, which finally brings to light the origin of famous vampire Barnabas Collins and explains just how his family became so cursed. Finally, from IDW comes Danger Girl Trinity, another offering of the popular Danger Girl brand featuring three separate stories for each of the girls. Don’t let these new books make your forget the goings-on over at Valiant, however: Harbinger War continues in Bloodshot #10, while Planet Death continues in X-O Manowar #12. Both of these events have been awesome so far, don’t miss out on the big things coming from that publisher right now!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, April 17th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
