Posted on March 23, 2016 at 12:03 pm by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Howling Commandos Of S.H.I.E.L.D. #6
Hyperion #1
Illuminati #5
Infinity Entity #3 (Of 4)
Marvel Universe Guardians Of The Galaxy #6

Star Wars #17
Totally Awesome Hulk #4
Ultimates #5
Uncanny X-Men #5
Venom Space Knight #5
X-Men Worst X-Man Ever #2 (Of 5)

Perfect Pulls: One of the things I loved most about Hickman’s Avengers run was the return of Hyperion, so it will come as no surprise to you that I’m incredibly excited for his solo book today! I love that the Squadron characters have all found a place in the Marvel U, but none of these Justice League-equivalents are cooler than the big man himself. Let’s face it, the Marvel Universe has been in need of a Superman-analogue since The Sentry died for the thousandth time, and Hyperion is way cooler than Sentry could ever be! I’m also stoked for a new issue of Totally Awesome Hulk, which has really turned out to be way awesome-er than I expected.

BM50covDC Releases

Art Ops #6
Batman #50
Batman And Robin Eternal #25
Cyborg #9
Deathstroke #16
Grayson #18
Harley Quinn #26
Jacked #5 (Of 6)
Justice League 3001 #10
Secret Six #12
Superman Lois And Clark #6
Teen Titans #18
We Are Robin #10
Wonder Woman #50

Perfect Pulls: Let’s be real for a moment: nothing on this list compares to Batman #50. Yes, I’m very excited for a new issue of Lois and Clark, a miniseries I absolutely adore. I’m also in for all the other Bat-books out today. But seeing Bruce make his return, in a brand new suit, bringing in the end of the Capullo/Snyder run? It simply doesn’t get any better than that!

Birthright #15
Circuit Breaker #1 (Of 5)
Cry Havoc #3
Dream Police #8
Mirror #2
Nowhere Men #9
Outcast #17
Pencil Head #3 (Of 5)
Ringside #5
Snowfall #2
Sons Of The Devil #6
Stray Bullets Sunshine And Roses #13

Perfect Pulls: Alright, I have to admit, I’ve got my snarky face on when it comes to Circuit Breaker. I read the solicitation, and the premise sounds awesome. How do I know it’s awesome? Because I also thought it was awesome the first time I heard it… nearly three decades ago when I first discovered Mega Man. Based on the solicit alone, the premise is dang near identical. However, since I love that premise, and imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, I’m still going to check this book out. I just hope it’s able to differentiate itself  from what feels like the source material beyond simply having a female lead.

Perfect Pulls: Titan has a comic series starting today that I know a lot of people are going to be into, and that’s Independence Day #1. Loved the last so-bad-it’s-great movie, and can’t wait for the sequel this summer? This comic series is for you, as it fills in the gap in between, and unveils that the ships we fought in the sky weren’t the only ships worth investigating! IDW has a cool offering for G.I. Joe fans this week as well, with G.I. Joe Deviations. This one-shot answers the question we’ve always wondered: what would happen if COBRA really did take over the world?

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, March 23rd. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
