Posted on March 20, 2013 at 12:01 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

All-New X-Men #9
Avengers #8
Cable And X-Force #6
Captain America #5
Captain Marvel #11
Daredevil #24
Dark Avengers #188
Deadpool #6
Indestructible Hulk #5
New Avengers #4
Nova #2
Savage Wolverine #3
Superior Spider-Man #6
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #21
Wolverine MAX #5
X-Factor #253
X-Termination #1 (Of 2)

Perfect Pulls: So many fantastic books from Marvel this week! The continuing exploits of Cap and his surrogate son Ian roll on in Captain America, which I recently insisted you all start reading. Another issue of Nova drops this week, hopefully staying as strong as the outstanding premier issue. Superior Spider-Man #6 will reveal whether the cliffhanger ending of the previous issue has made a murderer out of Spider-Man, while Avengers and All-New X-Men continue to reinvent the way we look at both teams. Finally, the next big X-event begins in X-Termination #1, bringing together all the characters from Astonishing X-Men along with the cast of the sleeper hits Age of Apocalypse and X-Treme X-Men. Those books have both been quietly fantastic, and I’m excited to see them get the kind of attention you can only get from a crossover.

NTW_Cv18_dsDC Releases

Action Comics #18
Batman Beyond Unlimited #14
Batwoman #18
Birds Of Prey #18
Catwoman #18
Constantine #1
DC Universe Presents #18
Fables #127
Green Lantern New Guardians #18
JSA The Liberty Files The Whistling Skull #4 (of 6)
Justice League #18
Justice League Of America #2
Justice League Of America’s Vibe #2
Legion Of Super-Heroes #18
Nightwing #18
Red Hood And The Outlaws #18
Supergirl #18
Sword Of Sorcery #6
Wonder Woman #18

Perfect Pulls: DC fans get a double-dose of Justice this week, with new issues of both Justice League and Justice League of America. The first issue of JLA was very compelling, so jump in now to watch Geoff Johns’ mutant power to make you care about characters you never cared about before in action. (David Finch’s outstanding pencils don’t hurt, either.) The requiem for Robin continues in Nightwing and Red Hood and the Outlaws this week as well. These should be two of the most interesting parts of the requiem; no one was closer to Damian than Dick Grayson, and I’m fascinated to see how Jason Todd copes with the death of another Robin. Finally, fans of the dark side of DC should pick up Constantine #1, which will hopefully fill the void left behind by the cancellation of Hellblazer.

Elephantmen #47
Five Ghosts: The Haunting Of Fabian Gray #1 (Of 5)
Invincible #101
It Girl And The Atomics #8
Revival #8
Saga #11
Storm Dogs #4 (Of 6)

Perfect Pulls: Only one new offering from Image this week, but boy does it sound outstanding. Five Ghosts: The Haunting of Fabian Gray follows the adventures of Fabian Gray, a treasure hunter who gets exposed to an artifact called The Dreamstone. Granted the abilities of five literary ghosts by the stone, he must now use them to continue his exploits and combat those who would stop him. Also, the excellent Comeback ends this week; if you haven’t been reading this time-traveling thriller, grab this up and the first four before it this week!

X-O Manowar #11 (Valiant)

Perfect Pulls: I’m usually a sucker for Year One books, and this week has a pretty interesting one from IDW. Ever wonder what Judge Dredd’s rookie year on the force was like? Grab Judge Dredd Year One #1 and find out! Over on the Valiant side of the indies, both of their new releases this week hold major significance for the Valiant universe. Harbinger #10 features the essential debut of the Renegades, and this team of outlaw telekinetics will make huge waves, assuming they survive their first encounter. Over in X-O Manowar #11, the first major event in the new Valiant universe begins! Planet Death begins in earnest, as Aric arrives at the Vine homeworld determined to annihilate every last bit of their world. Armed with their greatest artifact, he just may be able to wage a one-man war on an entire society of people, but the fallout may be greater than anyone can imagine. Either way, it’s bound to be a fantastic read.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, March 20th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
