Posted on March 13, 2013 at 12:23 pm by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: Fans of dystopian settings and devastated heroes rejoice, Age of Ultron continues this week! The first issue was exceptional, so hopefully this week continues the strong start. Speaking of comics with exceptionally strong starts, Uncanny X-Men continues this week, where Scott’s team collides with the Avengers for the first time. (And we all know what happened LAST time A’s fought X’s…) Along with those titles, be sure not to miss Marvel NOW gems Avengers Arena, Thor God of Thunder, Fantastic Four and the surprisingly unique Secret Avengers.

bm18DC Releases

Batman #18
Batman And Robin #18
Batman Arkham Unhinged #12

Saucer Country #13
Suicide Squad #18
Superboy #18
Team 7 #6
Threshold #3

Perfect Pulls: The requiem for Robin continues in force, across Batman #18, Batgirl #18, and the breaks-my-heart-to-even-type Batman and Robin #18. Witness more of the fallout from the death of Bruce’s son, and how the family that just got through one of its greatest challenges now deals its greatest loss. Over in Green Lantern Corps, the Wrath of the First Lantern continues, a storyline that started off slowly but is building fast and getting more and more interesting by the page. On a sad note for the few of us who still hold all things early Image/Wildstorm sacred, this week sees the final issue of Team 7, so be sure to grab it up.

Perfect Pulls: If you read The Walking Dead, I bet you’re just as excited as I am for today’s issue. Issue 107 introduced a particularly badass new character with its final page (in true Kirkman fashion), and now we get to find out exactly who he is, and hopefully where he got his furry friend. Antihero fans get their fix with new issues of both Spawn and Darkness, and cult favorite Triggergirl 6 gets collected for the first time.

Perfect Pulls: BOOM! has a premier this week that I’m dying to read. Aliens vs. Parker follows the antics of blue-collar space workers who get sent to a dangerous planet to make a delivery, and who are left to defend themselves with what they’ve learned from playing games and being generally unpleasant people. Equally exciting is Dark Horse’s new book Sledgehammer 44. Set in 1944, a man in an iron suit drops into a WWII battlefield and starts tearing through Nazis left and right. If that doesn’t hook you, this book is written by Mike Mignola and promises to be “his version of Iron Man.” Sounds like it’s worth a look!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, March 13th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
