Tyler’s Comic Corner – 2/11/15 Edition

Posted on February 11, 2015 at 6:21 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

detailMarvel Releases

Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble Season Two #4
Nightcrawler #11
Spider-Woman #4
Thanos Vs Hulk #3 (Of 4)
Thor #5
Wolverines #6
X-Force #15
X-Men #24

Perfect Pulls: After a long and critically-acclaimed run, the massive Spider-Verse event comes to a close today in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #14. While I’m just as excited as all of you, I almost feel bad for it… no matter how good of an ending it is, it can’t be better than the news we got yesterday! Completionists will also want to grab Spider-Woman #4, which is an epilogue to the event, and is also the last time you’ll see the classic Spider-Woman costume. Also this week, the next story arc begins in the stellar new Thor, and Kieron Gillen’s Darth Vader begins today, which is likely the most anticipated Star Wars comic since, well… ever!

Perfect Pulls: Things are really starting to come to a head in the DC Universe, and with Convergence rapidly approaching, some old faces are about to depart as new ones take their place. Green Lantern Corps is one of those changing titles, which makes today’s release the penultimate issue before the Corps looks to become something different. This is also a great week for fans of the Vertigo brand, with new issues of hits like FBP and The Wolf Among Us, as well as fans of the expanded TV universe, with new issues of Arrow Season 2.5 and Smallville Season 11.

Shutter #9
Southern Bastards #7
Tech Jacket #8

Perfect Pulls: After some particularly heavy weeks, Image has a lighter load today, but still manages to squeeze in another new hit. Empty tells the tale of a post-apocalyptic world where the only hope stems from a stranger who can grow life from death… yup, I’m in. If you’re not looking to add a new title to your list, you still have new issues of Five Ghosts, Southern Bastards and The Walking Dead to tide you over, not to mention the start of an all-new story arc in Morning Glories.

Pair that with a new issue of Rai and the last issue of Q2 and it’s a great day for Valiant fans. Of course, Valiant isn’t the only publisher bringing hits today. IDW has new issues of their hit Star Trek and 7th Sword series, Dynamite comes to the table with a new Magnus Robot Fighter and steampunk Red Sonja (no lie), while Dark Horse wraps up their Fire and Stone line and brings a new issue of the brutal for good measure.
