Posted on December 9, 2015 at 5:46 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Uncanny Avengers #3

Perfect Pulls: What’s this… is that an issue of Secret Wars out today?! My god, the end is almost in sight! What was originally the final issue until the series was extended to nine, Secret Wars #8 promises to continue blowing our minds and setting up the world we’ve already been living in for a month or two. Speaking of that world, some of the best new titles have new issues out this week. Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Gwen, Ultimates and the surprisingly good Hercules all have new updates on the shelf, as well as a new issue of my new favorite book on earth, Amazing Spider-Man. The Gwenpool Special is also out today, if you’re really into watching a company milk the hell out of a current fad.

Perfect Pulls: If you aren’t filled with glee over the fact that this list includes a comic titled Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, than I regret to inform you that you are probably dead. This book looks outstanding, and is one of those perfect reminders that sometimes comics can just be awesome. (This is also something I would kill to go back in time with to show my younger self, just to watch his mind explode.) Speaking of Batman, reader beware! Batman #47 has an epic final page that the internet will most definitely be buzzing about, so if you want to avoid spoilers, either read this book ASAP or avoid social media until you have! Finally, almost every Bat-related book that isn’t Batman is a Robin War tie-in this week, so if you’re interested in that event but don’t normally buy every Batman title, you may want to scope them out for now.

violent1covImage Releases

Birthright #12
Codename Baboushka The Conclave Of Death #3
Head Lopper #2
Limbo #2 (Of 6)
Monstress #2
No Mercy #5
Saints #3
Stray Bullets Sunshine And Roses #10
Symmetry #1
Trees #13
Violent #1
Walking Dead #149
We Stand On Guard #6 (Of 6)

Perfect Pulls: This week, Image gets its Gattaca on with Symmetry. In a world where life is strictly regulated and even emotions are dictated, one man and one woman who appear to be the only people left with free come together and promise to turn society on its ear. Meanwhile, Violent is another new offering from Image, the latest in their line of brutal redemption stories. Telling the tale of a former criminal trying desperately to stay straight, the threat of losing his daughter sends him spiraling back into old habits. With Adam Gorham on art duties, you know this book will be equal parts pretty and hard to look at… I can’t wait! And speaking of gritty books, don’t miss the final issue of We Stand On Guard, which I’m sure will be the most brutal yet!

Dynamite also continues a theme with their latest steampunk offering, Precinct, bringing you the perfect combination of Law and Order and Bioshock. Also, be sure to check out the latest issue of Ninjak from Valiant, which introduces the all-new look for Shadow Man, as well as some pretty epic new Ninjak armor.
