Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: The end is here! Avengers and X-Men: Axis #9 is on shelves today, the final chapter in the most recent epic that’s been turning the Marvel Universe upside-down. The heroes and villains are going at it full steam, just on opposite sides of the coin; the X-Men are trying to kill everyone; Cap has rescued Red Skull; nothing makes sense! Will today finally restore the world we know and love? If that question isn’t enough to get your butt in the shop, don’t forget you also need to pick up the latest issues of Uncanny and All-New X-Men, the latest chapters of interstellar awesomeness that is Cyclops and Nova, and the always-significant New Avengers.

Perfect Pulls: Those who know me are probably shocked that I’m not using this space to tout Robin Rises Alpha #1. Don’t get me wrong; the return of Damian Wayne is the very best Christmas present I could get this week, so my joy is unbridled. However, last week’s issue of Batman and Robin was technically his actual return, which means I’m able to focus this week on one of my other obsessions: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I’ve spoken many times in this space about how DC’s MotU reboot is one of the coolest things they’ve ever done, and it’s taking another massive turn with the start of Eternity War, the first major event since the new take on this legend began. I’ll put it simply: if you’ve ever liked anything He-Man, you need to read these books! Also this week, don’t miss tons of great Bat books like Batman Eternal, Arkham Manor and Gotham by Midnight, the latest chapter in the expectations-shattering Deathstroke, and the next chapter of Godhead in Green Lantern Annual #3!

gs1covImage Release

Black Science #11
C.O.W.L. #7
Dead@17 Blasphemy Throne #5 (Of 7)
Graveyard Shift #1 (Of 4)
Great Pacific #18
Mercenary Sea #8
Outcast #6
Rasputin #3
Revival #26
Super Dinosaur #23
They’re Not Like Us #1

Perfect Pulls: There’s two new Image books today, and neither of them look likely to spread any holiday cheer! First up is Graveyard Shift, which tells the tale of a homicide detective and his girlfriend and what happens to them when they rub a pack of vampires the wrong way; probably safe to assume it’s not going to go well for them. Then, They’re Not Like Us takes the age-old tradition of those growing older resenting the generation coming up below them, but adds a twist when the youth starts exhibiting powers. Damn whippersnappers! Along with the new books, make sure you don’t miss new issues of greats like C.O.W.L., and Black Science as well!

Of course, the introduction of new members always goes great for super-teams… I’m sure no one will ruin what should otherwise be a happy occasion, right? Riiiiiight. Dynamite fans should take note this week, as the publisher has several special one-shots for some of their most popular lines, like The Shadow and Doc Savage. Add in the end of Dark Horse’s Terminator Salvation series and the start of a Garbage Pail Kids comic from IDW (nothing ever stays dead in geekdom!) and you’ve got an eclectic mix from the indies today!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, December 24th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
