Tyler’s Comic Corner – 1/20/16 Edition

Posted on January 20, 2016 at 6:53 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat #2
Silver Surfer #1
Star Wars #15
Starbrand And Nightmask #2
Star-Lord #3
Uncanny Inhumans #4
Uncanny X-Men #2

Perfect Pulls: There are two new books hitting your Marvel section today that, I admit, there are zero chance of me reading. However, the fan bases for these books are passionate and awesome, so I’m excited by proxy that the newest iterations of Captain Marvel and Silver Surfer make their debuts today. That doesn’t mean there aren’t books that I will be reading, however! Naturally I’ll be diving into Star Wars, Uncanny Inhumans, and Uncanny X-Men. You can also definitely count on me bringing home Hercules #3; this has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the new Marvel lineup!

Batman Arkham Knight Genesis #6 (Of 6)

Superman Wonder Woman #25
Titans Hunt #4 (Of 12)
Wonder Woman #48

Perfect Pulls: The road to the guaranteed-to-be-epic 50th issue of Batman continues today with the hotly anticipated Batman #48. Bruce and the Joker have been reunited, Mister Bloom is out of control, Alfred is still missing a hand… nothing makes sense in Gotham right now! I know we’re paving the road to Bruce coming back to being Batman, but it’s hard to see right now how we’re going to get there, so I’m excited to get the next installment today! Also this week, don’t miss out on new issues of Robin Son of Batman, Sinestro, Martian Manhunter and Superman Wonder Woman, all of which are some of DC’s finest right now!

Perfect Pulls: Want to work in the comics industry? You’re reading this, which means you’re a comic fan, which means the answer is probably yes. Well, I can’t guarantee you that Pencil Head is going to teach you how to break into the business, but if you want what promises to be a glimpse behind the curtain of the crazy world of makin’ comics, this book will deliver! While you’re grabbing that, be sure to also get your copies of Tokyo Ghost, Wayward, and my podcast partner’s personal favorite, I Hate Fairyland.

Zenescope Entertainment:

Perfect Pulls: Everyone who knows me knows I’m a huge fan of everything Valiant, but Wrath of the Eternal Warrior is particularly great. This book had to meet some high expecations, what with being the first ongoing series around one of Valiant’s most popular characters, but this book has done nothing but exceed those expectations in it’s first couple of issues. Judging from the preview for today’s issue, it doesn’t look like that’s changing! Also out this week, IDW debuts a new compilation series in Amazing Forest that promises to bring in as many talented creators as possible to let them just run wild, and Rick Remender has a new Dynamite book called Devolution that looks awesome, so don’t miss it!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, January 20th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
