Posted on January 14, 2015 at 6:00 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: Who says you can’t go home again? Marvel was the original home of the Star Wars comics, and as of today, it is again, with Star Wars #1 hitting shelves. This series is 100% canon to Star Wars lore, features the killer team-up of Jason Aaron and John Cassaday, and is only first of several Star Wars-related titles soon to be seen from Marvel. Also this week, the second part of the epic Spider-Verse solo title, a double-dose of Avengers, and more books that start with All-New than you can shake a stick at!

Perfect Pulls: Let’s face it; whether you like the games or not, the Mortal Kombat franchise has some really cool characters. (No Sub-Zero pun intended.) If you ever wanted to spend time with these characters but didn’t want to learn two dozen special moves, Mortal Kombat X will give you exactly that! And, if you are a fan of the games, this series is the prelude to the upcoming game of the same name, so you won’t want to miss it either. This week also sees pivotal issues of Batman Eternal and Grayson, several great Vertigo books, and the latest look at the post-Godhead Lanternverse in Green Lantern Corps #38.

After a long hiatus, the Millar/Quitely team-up featuring the second generation of superheroes is back on shelves, and if having to wait this long stung, let me assuage your pain by letting you know this is a double-sized issue! Combine that with new issues of titles like The Fuse, Copperhead, Ten Grand and The Walking Dead and it’s a busy day from Image!
