Tyler’s Comic Corner – 11/4/15 Edition

Posted on November 4, 2015 at 6:00 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

uxm600covMarvel Releases

Amazing Spider-Man #3
Avengers Vs Infinity #1
Contest Of Champions #2
Deadpool #1
Doctor Strange #2
Drax #1
Extraordinary X-Men #1
Hercules #1
Howard The Duck #1
Invincible Iron Man #3
Marvel Universe Guardians Of The Galaxy #2
Max Ride Ultimate Flight #1 (Of 5)
Miracleman By Gaiman And Buckingham #4
Nova #1
Spider-Gwen #0
Star Wars #11
Uncanny X-Men #600
Vision #1

Perfect Pulls: It’s been delayed more times than I can count, but the final issue of Uncanny X-Men is here today, along with 600 variant covers to match. (I kid, but only just barely.) An issue that’s being touted as the “end of the X-Men,” the irony that a new X-title also begins today isn’t lost on me, and it will be interesting to see how right the conspiracy theorists are about the Inhumans taking the place of the X-teams going forward. There are also lots of new #1s out today, but none more exciting than Nova. A father and son Nova team up book? I’m so in!

dwflash1covDC Releases

Batman And Robin Eternal #5
Batman Arkham Knight #10
Bat-Mite #6 (Of 6)
Detective Comics #46
Green Arrow #46
Green Lantern #46
Harley Quinn And Power Girl #5 (Of 6)
Justice League Darkseid War Superman #1
Justice League Darkseid War The Flash #1
Lobo #12
Midnighter #6
Mortal Kombat X #12
Scooby-Doo Team-Up #13
Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #16
Survivor’s Club #2
Unfollow #1

Perfect Pulls: The very best thing coming out of DC right now is the epic Darkseid War storyline, and so far, the tie-ins look to be just as great as the pages of Justice League that they spin out of. Following last week’s awesome Batman issue, this week brings the focus to the new (evil) Superman and the new (actually Death now) Flash, and I’m equally excited for both! And, speaking of the best things coming out of DC, don’t miss new issues of Batman and Robin Eternal, Green Lantern, or Midnighter, also out today.

mon1covImage Releases

Axcend #2
Black Science #17
Citizen Jack #1
Dark Corridor #4
Elephantmen #67
Humans #9
Lazarus #20
Monstress #1
Nailbiter #17
Paper Girls #2
Rasputin #10
Saints #2
Sex #25
Stray Bullets Sunshine And Roses #9
Velvet #12
We Stand On Guard #5 (Of 6)

Perfect Pulls: Two new additions to the Image lineup today, for those keeping count. I’m split on Monstress; it’s being billed as a combination of steampunk (which I hate) and kaiju (which I love), so we’ll have to see which side wins! On the opposite side of the coin, we also have the premier of Citizen Jack. Promising to be a “horror comedy for anyone who hates politics,” Citizen Jack follows a presidential candidate who’s making deals with the devil… literally! Considering our current candidates, this is probably closer to the truth than we care to admit, so be sure to check it out.

Perfect Pulls: Filed under “I can’t believe it took this long for this to exist,” Dynamite premiers the first-ever James Bond comic today! Don’t dismiss this as a lame tie-in, either… it happens to be written by Warren Ellis. Yes, that’s right: Warren Ellis writing a James Bond comic. I am just as excited to type that sentence as you are to read it. Also, though the existence of the sequel to the film seems to be unknown, get more Pacific Rim goodness with the new comic from Legendary. Oh, and did you know about Klaus, out today from BOOM! Studios? Oh, you know, it’s just Grant Morrison telling the origin of Santa Clause. Seriously guys, today’s new indie books make me feel like I’ve died and gone to comic heaven!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, November 4th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
