Tyler’s Comic Corner – 11/28 Edition

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 11:27 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Marvel Releases

A+X #2
All-New X-Men #2
Astonishing X-Men Annual #1
Captain America And Black Widow #639
FF #1
Gambit #6
New Avengers #34
Secret Avengers #34
Thor God Of Thunder #2
Ultimate Comics Iron Man #2 (Of 4)
Ultimate Comics X-Men #19
Uncanny Avengers #2
Venom #27.1
Wolverine MAX #2
X-Men Legacy #2
X-Treme X-Men #7

Perfect Pulls: What an epic day for Marvel! The delayed Uncanny Avengers #2 is here this week, and my hopes are high for it. UA #1 wasn’t bad by any means, but considering this title is the flagship for the NOW revolution, it just felt like a pop where everyone expected an explosion. After being delayed two weeks, I have a feeling that feedback was received, which means all signs point to this being a huge book. Also, A+X #2 features a Beast/Spider-Man team-up, which is geek for “must buy.”

Oh, and did I mention ALL-NEW X-MEN #2????

DC Releases

All-Star Western #14
American Vampire #33
Aquaman #14
Arrow #1
Batman Beyond Unlimited #10
Batman Incorporated #5
Batman The Dark Knight #14
Before Watchmen Ozymandias #4 (of 6)
Before Watchmen Silk Spectre #4 (Of 4)
Flash #14
Fury Of Firestorm The Nuclear Men #14
I Vampire #14
Joe Kubert Presents #2 (Of 6)
Justice League Dark #14
Lot 13 #2 (Of 5)
Phantom Lady #4 (Of 4)
Red Hood And The Outlaws #13
Red Lanterns #14
Savage Hawkman #14
Superman #14
Talon #2
Teen Titans #14

Perfect Pulls: Of all the new titles to come out of the New 52’s “second wave,” Talon was definitely one of the most pleasant surprises, and the we see this week if that continues. The Watchmen prequels are now coming to (or close to) a close, as does the Phantom Lady miniseries. Also, I’d lose my access to the Batcave if I neglected to mention the release of that which is probably my favorite monthly book, Batman Incorporated. (Although actually trying to choose between that or Batman would probably make my head explode).

Image Releases

68 Scars #3 (Of 4)
Artifacts #19
Bedlam #2
Chew #30
Fatale #10
MacGyver Fugitive Gauntlet #2 (Of 5)
Morning Glories #23
Multiple Warheads From Alphabet To Infinity #2 (Of 4)
Nowhere Men #1
Planetoid #4
Prophet #31
Witch Doctor Mal Practice #1 (Of 6)

Perfect Pulls: Lots of coverage over the release of Witch Doctor Mal Practice, which hails from Robert Kirkman’s Skybound imprint. An over-the-top medical horror comic (is that a genre?), this isn’t quite my cup of tea, but the names and reviews definitely merit it being mentioned. On the flip side, the other premier this week sounds like something I’ll love. Nowhere Men has a cool scifi story and Eric Stephenson behind it, who’s responsible for so many of the 90’s Image books I love to love. Definitely check it out!

Indie Releases

Crossed Badlands #18 (Avatar)
Dicks #10 (Avatar)
Hero Worship #5 (Of 6) (Avatar)
Night Of The Living Dead Aftermath #2 (Avatar)
Adventure Time #10 (BOOM!)
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser The Road Below #2 (Of 4) (BOOM!)
Angel And Faith #16 (Dark Horse)
B.P.R.D. Hell On Earth #101 (Dark Horse)
Ghost #2 (Dark Horse)
R.I.P.D. City Of The Damned #1 (Of 4) (Dark Horse)
Star Wars Dawn Of The Jedi The Prisoner Of Bogan #1 (Of 5) (Dark Horse)
Green Hornet #31 (Dynamite)
Marcus Nispel’s Chosen #2 (Of 3) (Dynamite)
Masks #1 (Of 8) (Dynamite)
Prophecy #5 (Of 7) (Dynamite)
Thun’da #4 (Of 5) (Dynamite)
Warlord Of Mars #22 (Dynamite)
Cobra #19 (IDW)
Crow #5 (Of 5) (IDW)
Ghostbusters #15 (IDW)
Godzilla #7 (IDW)
My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic #1 (IDW)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #16 (IDW)
Transformers Prime Rage Of The Dinobots #1 (Of 4) (IDW)
True Blood #7 (IDW)

Perfect Pulls: Remember last week when I told you to start reading Green Hornet, Shadow and Spider? If you listened to me, your payoff is this week! Masks #1 comes out today, the huge crossover event featuring all three of Dynamite’s noir badasses. IDW’s new Crow miniseries comes to a close, and at the same time they premier a new Transformers miniseries that ties together the recently released Fall of Cybertron video game with the current Prime cartoon. Finally, a favorite TMNT villain of mine returns, as Slash (the evil mutant turtle) makes his violent premier!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, November 28th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!

    • You forgot to mention "Tower Chronicles #2" coming out… its an Legendary book, written by Matt Wagner and penciled by Simon Bisley. Pretty damned good!

And as far as the Marvel NOW books go, "Thor – God of Thunder" stands at the top of that heap right now. By far!
