Tyler’s Comic Corner – 11/26/14 Edition

Posted on November 26, 2014 at 6:50 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Spider-Man 2099 #6
Superior Foes Of Spider-Man #17
Superior Iron Man #2
Wolverine And The X-Men #12

Perfect Pulls: This Thanksgiving I know one thing I can be grateful for… spiders! The spiders are everywhere right now, and they’re well represented in today’s new books, with Spider-Verse spinning its web across several titles. The spider-inclined such as myself have Spider-Man 2099 and Scarlet Spiders #1, meaning your future Spidey and your clone love both get plenty of attention. On a sadder note, we also say goodbye to Superior Foes of Spider-Man, one of the funniest and most original books I’ve ever read. If you prefer things with less than eight legs, you won’t want to miss Cyclops, Nova, or Superior Iron Man #2, and if you’re looking for something new you may want to check out Deathlok. I didn’t expect much from the first issue and was pleasantly surprised, so you might be as well.

Infinity Man And The Forever People #5
Justice League Dark #36
New 52 Futures End #30
Red Lanterns #36
Secret Origins #7
Star-Spangled War Stories Featuring G.I. Zombie #4
Superman #36

Perfect Pulls: Look at all those Bat-books today! Obviously the Ghost of Thanksgiving Present totally gets me. (That’s how Thanksgiving works, right?) To go along with great books like Batman Eternal, Batman ’66, Batman Beyond Universe and Arkham Manor (way better than I expected) comes the latest Bat-title, Gotham By Midnight. Follow along with Jim Corrigan (the host of The Specter) as he dives into the occult underbelly of Gotham, tackling the mystic nonsense that thrives in the darkest city known to man… other than Newark, of course. If you aren’t a Bat-person, you’ll want to check out the outstanding new Deathstroke book (it’s great this time I swear), Flash #36 and the latest Godhead chapter in Red Lanterns #36.

Sidekick #9
Trees #7
Umbral #11
Wayward #4

Perfect Pulls: You didn’t think Image would let the holiday come without giving you another reason to lighten your wallet and love the biggest indie publisher, did you? The latest Image masterpiece is Ody-C, which happens to also be the latest Matt Fraction joint as well. At the culmination of a 100-year galactic throw-down, Odyssia and her crew are headed back home, in what promises to be a “gender-bent eye-popping psychedelic science fiction odyssey.” Sure, I’ll bite. If you’re giving your wallet a rest, you can still rest assured that books like Umbral, Wayward, Trees and C.O.W.L. mean you won’t spend your turkey day without a great Image book by your side.

IDW rolls out with a ton of new Transformers content, ranging from what you know and love to what might leave you scratching your head. You’ve got new issues in both the main series More Than Meets the Eye as well as Transformers vs. G.I. Joe, a brand new miniseries in Transformers Drift Empire of Stone, and another miniseries/crossover in Angry Birds Transformers. Yes, you read that right, and no, nothing is sacred when it comes to throwing round birds at equally round pigs. BOOM! also has some cool new books today, with Capture Creatures giving a cool spin on the Pokemon concept, as well as the latest in their critically acclaimed Apes lineup, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes #1.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, November 26th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
