Tyler’s Comic Corner – 11/2/16 Edition

Posted on November 2, 2016 at 10:58 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

tut1covMarvel Releases

Avengers #1
Champions #2
Deadpool And The Mercs For Money #5
Death Of X #3 (Of 4)
Foolkiller #1
Marvel Universe Avengers Ultron Revolution #5
Moon Knight #8
Occupy Avengers #1
Scarlet Witch #12
Spider-Man 2099 #17
Spider-Woman #13
Spidey #12
Unworthy Thor #1 (Of 5)

Perfect Pulls: Lots of #1’s on Marvel’s list today, though admittedly some are more exciting than others. While I don’t see a lot of folks overwhelmingly excited for Foolkiller or Occupy Avengers, there’s lots of buzz about both Avengers and particularly Unworthy Thor. The first looks to be a gorgeous book, and this iteration of the team has a pretty killer lineup, so you probably don’t want to miss it. The second finally brings Odinson back into the spotlight after being gone since Secret Wars, and I can’t wait to see what he’s been up to, and what he’s going to do with Ultimate Thor’s hammer. Definitely don’t miss those debuts!

s10covDC Releases

Aquaman #10
Batman #10
Batman ’66 Meets Steed And Mrs. Peel #5 (Of 6)
Catwoman Election Night #1
Cyborg #4
DC Comics Bombshells #19
Death Of Hawkman #2 (Of 6)
Everafter From The Pages Of Fables #3
Flintstones #5
Green Arrow #10
Green Lanterns #10
Harley Quinn #7
Justice League #8
Midnighter And Apollo #2 (Of 6)
Nightwing #8
Red Thorn #12
Shade The Changing Girl #2
Sheriff Of Babylon #12 (Of 12)
Superman #10
Unfollow #13

Perfect Pulls: After becoming cautiously optimistic about Batman in the last issue, I’m hoping this week’s new addition continues that trend. If nothing else, I know for sure that I can count on Superman being a hit; that really just may be the best book coming out of DC right now. You also won’t want to miss new issues of Nightwing or Green Arrow, and be sure to check out the kick-butt new miniseries, Midnighter and Apollo.

md1covImage Releases

Bitch Planet #9
CBLDF Liberty Annual 2016
Deadly Class #23
Eclipse #3
Eden’s Fall #3
Mayday #1 (Of 5)
Nailbiter #26
Prophet Earth War #6 (Of 6)
Revival #44
Southern Bastards #15
Walking Dead #160
Wicked + The Divine #23

Perfect Pulls: Image’s newest book is Mayday, a Cold War thriller with a bit of a twist. Instead of the standard tale of American agents behind enemy lines in Russia, Mayday focuses on two Russian agents trapped in America after their mission falls apart. This isn’t an era that sees a lot of exposure in comics nowadays, so I’m definitely going to check this one out!
