Tyler’s Comic Corner – 11/14 Edition

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 2:34 pm by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Marvel Releases

All-New X-Men #1
Amazing Spider-Man #697
Avengers Assemble #9
Fantastic Four #1
First X-Men #4 (Of 5)
Gambit #5
Marvel Universe Vs The Avengers #2 (Of 4)
New Avengers #33
Red She-Hulk #59
Thor God Of Thunder #1
Ultimate Comics The Ultimates #18
Venom #27
Wolverine And The X-Men #20
X-Men Legacy #1
X-Treme X-Men #6

Perfect Pulls: Lots of exciting Marvel NOW releases this week, as the revolution continues. Thor and the FF see the start of their new books this week, and remember last week when we said goodbye to X-Men Legacy? This week we say hello to X-Men Legacy! However, these all pale in comparison to the premier of one of the most anticipated NOW titles, All-New X-Men #1, which features the original five X-Men being pulled from the past and dropped in the midst of the current Marvel universe. Brian Michael Bendis spins a tale where a young X-team finds out what their future holds, and if you’ve been paying even the smallest iota of attention towards the X-Men in the last few decades, you’ll know how hard that’s going to be for them. This book is a must-buy, and is probably one of the most original new titles to come out of the NOW movement.

Phantom Stranger #2
Punk Rock Jesus #5 (Of 6)
Ravagers #6
Saucer Country #9
Suicide Squad #14
Superboy #14
Team 7 #2

Perfect Pulls: It is a good week to be a fan of of caped crusaders or clown princes of crime. Death of the Family continues in the Bat-related corners of DC, spearheaded by Batman #14. This is one of those events where you know things are going to get very bad before they get any better; make sure you’re along for the ride. Speaking of events that imply great turmoil, the Rise of the Third Army continues in Green Lantern Corps, and the newest He-Man brings us closer to Adam remembering who he really is, and you know when that happens that it’s going to be awesome.

Image Releases

Elephantmen #44
Great Pacific #1
Hack Slash #20
Hoax Hunters #5
Invincible #97
Peter Panzerfaust #7
Point Of Impact #2 (Of 4)

Thief Of Thieves #10
Think Tank #4
Walking Dead #104
Where Is Jake Ellis #1 (Of 5)

Perfect Pulls: It’s a huge week for Image, with several flagship brands all seeing releases, as well as some hot new premiers. Both Invincible and Thief of Thieves promise major twists, and The Walking Dead continues to deal with… well, you know. Also, the excellent Nathan Edmondson’s Jake Ellis saga continues, and Great Pacific has a premise that sounds benign but promises a sci-fi edge that looks promising.

Perfect Pulls: It’s the end of a dark, bloody, twisted era, as The Boys comes to a close this weekend. The Boys made The Authority look like the neighborhood watch, and as sad as I am to see it go, I’m almost glad it’s gone, just for my sanity! IDW’s fan-favorite Locke and Key series continues today, as well as BOOM’s acclaimed Extermination, and fans of the Borderlands games can uncover the untold back-stories of the original four characters in the Borderlands Origin miniseries.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, November 14th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
