Tyler’s Comic Corner 11-07-12 Edition

Posted on November 7, 2012 at 2:46 am by Justin Cavender

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Marvel Releases

Age Of Apocalypse #9
Avengers #33
Avengers Academy #39
Avengers Vs X-Men (Hardcover)
Avenging Spider-Man #14
AvX Consequences #5 (Of 5)
Daredevil End Of Days #2 (Of 8)
Deadpool #1
Defenders #12
Iron Man #1
New Avengers #32
Road To Oz #3 (Of 6)
Scarlet Spider #11
Spaceknights #2 (Of 3)
Uncanny X-Force #33
X-Factor #246
X-Men #38

Perfect Pulls: The end of then and the beginning of NOW! begin to overlap this week. Two major titles see their rebranded re-premiers, while series like Avengers Academy and Defenders come to a close. The final chapter in the goosebump-inducing AvX Consequences is out, marking the true close of the epic event. Also, Minimum Carnage rolls on in Scarlet Spider. While the crossover has been pretty lackluster (especially compared to recent miniseries success in Carnage and Carnage USA), all signs point to Kaine assuming the spider-mantle in Superior Spider-Man, so fans may want to get to know him now. The book is a fun read, so investigation won’t be painful!

DC Releases

Action Comics #14
Animal Man #14
Batwing #14
Before Watchmen Moloch #1 (Of 2)
DC Nation #2
Detective Comics #14
Dial H #6
Earth 2 #6
Fairest #9
G.I. Combat #6
Green Arrow #14
Green Lantern #14
Legends Of The Dark Knight #2
Smallville Season 11 #7
Stormwatch #14
Swamp Thing #14
Sweet Tooth #39
Worlds’ Finest #6

Perfect Pulls: Two of the three current ongoing crossovers continue this week. Swamp Thing and Animal Man continue the environmental horror that is Rotworld. In the heavens above rages the Rise of the Third Army, continuing this week in Green Lantern 14. Fans of the Watchmen prequels also have a new premier this week as well.

Image Releases

Creator Owned Heroes #6
Epic Kill #6
Guarding The Globe #3
Harvest #4 (Of 5)
Manhattan Projects #7
Nancy In Hell On Earth #4 (Of 4)
Perhapanauts Danger Down Under #1 (Of 4)
Storm Dogs #1 (Of 6)
Super Dinosaur #15
Thief Of Thieves #9
Thought Bubble Anthology #2

Perfect Pulls: A new miniseries begins this week, one that looks very promising. Storm Dogs is being described as a “sci fi crime drama” which frankly I need more of on TV right this moment. Also, Perhapanauts looks very unique, and made me realize that comics very rarely tell stories that involve Australia.

Indie Releases

Star Trek The Next Generation Hive #2 (Of 4) (IDW)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Color Classics #6 (IDW)
Transformers Regeneration One #85 (IDW)
Shadowman #1 (Valiant)

Perfect Pulls: Valiant isn’t done resurrecting its more popular players, as this week sees the highly anticipated return of Shadowman. Freelancers from BOOM! features the adventures of two female bounty hunters who grew up in a Kung-Fu orphanage so that’s clearly worth a look. However, these both pale in comparison to the premier of 47 Ronin from Dark Horse, a retelling of Japan’s most famous tale drawn by none other than living legend Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo) himself.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, November 7th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
