Tyler’s Comic Corner – 10/14/15 Edition

Posted on October 14, 2015 at 8:06 am by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!
ua1covMarvel Releases

A-Force #5
Captain America Sam Wilson #1
Captain America White #3 (Of 5)
Chewbacca #1 (Of 5)
Civil War #5
Deadpool Vs Thanos #3 (Of 4)
Figment 2 #2 (Of 5)
Guardians Of The Galaxy #1
Journey To Star Wars The Force Awakens Shattered Empire #3 (Of 4)
Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble Season Two #12
Marvel Zombies #4
Ms Marvel #19
New Avengers #1
Spider-Gwen #1
Spider-Man 2099 #1
Uncanny Avengers #1
What If Infinity X-Men #1 (One Shot)

Perfect Pulls: The All-New All-Different Marvel Universe kicks into gear this week! Sure, last week was the real start, with books like Invincible Iron Man and Doctor Strange, but this week marks the first time the new outnumber the old, despite a few Secret Wars tie-ins desperately trying to wrap up. While not all of these books excite me, particularly those under the Avengers umbrella, any time a major publisher gets flipped upside-down, you’re always in for a good ride!

bm45covDC Releases

Batman #45
Batman And Robin Eternal #2
Batman Superman #25
Bat-Mite #5 (Of 6)
Catwoman #45
Constantine The Hellblazer #5
DC Comics Bombshells #3
Earth 2 Society #5
Fables The Wolf Among Us #10
Harley Quinn #21
Justice League Of America #4
Justice League United #14
Red Hood Arsenal #5
Scooby-Doo Where Are You #62
Starfire #5
Superman Lois And Clark #1
Twilight Children #1 (Of 4)

Perfect Pulls: Ahhh, back to being able to count on a Bat-title every week. Thanks, DC! And this week, having a triple-dose of Batman goodness is particularly appreciated, as there isn’t much else that has me terribly excited. However, between Batman #45 having what Scott Snyder describes as his “best opening to a Batman book yet,” Batman Superman always being outstanding, and the follow up to Batman and Robin Eternal’s strong first showing, I don’t have much to complain about!

switch1covImage Releases

Astronauts In Trouble #5
Covenant #4
East Of West #21
Faster Than Light #2
Fuse #15
I Hate Fairyland #1
Low #10
Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #3 (Of 6)
Roche Limit Clandestiny #5
Savior #7
Sex Criminals #13
Switch #1
Walking Dead #147
Wicked + The Divine #15

Perfect Pulls: Only two new additions to the Image lineup today, as opposed to the mountain of new books last week, so my wallet can breathe easy! Switch is based on an insanely-popular webcomic that’s now found a physical home with Image, and features a world that pulls together lots of artifacts and characters you’re going to recognize, but they assure us they have rights to use! On the flip side, Skottie Young fans won’t want to miss his latest work, I Hate Fairyland, of which I suspect the name tells you all you need to know!

Perfect Pulls: When it comes to indie books, you’re going to want to bolt straight for the IDW section this week. Of course, you already were, since the latest issue of the Star Trek Green Lantern is out today, but you may also want to check out the Cobra World Order Prelude as well. Big things have been going on in the GI Joe comic world, and it’s been my experience that major events like this one are a good spot to jump into a new franchise… I know that’s what I’ll be doing, at least! Also, if you like Cullen Bunn and horror books, not only does he have a new issue of Harrow County out with Dark Horse, his latest Oni book Blood Feud kicks off as well!

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, October 14th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
