Tyler’s Comic Corner – 10/12/16 Edition

Posted on October 12, 2016 at 12:00 pm by Tyler Waterman

Welcome to Tyler’s Comic Corner, where I highlight the majority of this week’s new comic releases. My highlights include mainstream and indie titles, ensuring your pull list won’t be deprived of one of this week’s gems. My apologies if your favorite isn’t listed, but good news; you clearly already knew it was coming!

Perfect Pulls: Ignore the fact that Civil War II isn’t over, the new era of the Marvel Universe has begun! Hot on the heels of last week’s Champions debut, the new titles begin to roll in this week. From new characters like Mosaic to really random 90’s callbacks like Solo, there’s a lot of new things this week and on the horizon from Marvel. Of course, reader beware; I’m sure some of these are going to have Civil War II spoilers. You may want to scout reviews before you read! Also, don’t miss the start of the biggest Spidey event of the year… the Jackal returns in Clone Conspiracy #1!

Perfect Pulls: Several of the easiest-to-recommend new DC books hit shelves today, which always makes me happy. Don’t miss new issues of Flash, New Super-Man, Wonder Woman and Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps, just to name a few. And of course, don’t miss the latest chapter of All-Star Batman, which is easily the best Bat-book on the market right now. If you’re feeling a little down about Batman or Detective, this book will bring you back up fast!

reborn1covImage Releases

Black Light District 6 Issues #1 (One Shot)
Black Monday Murders #3
Black Science #25
Fix #6
Fuse #22
Glitterbomb #2
Jupiter’s Legacy Volume 2 #4 (Of 5)
Kill Or Be Killed #3
Lazarus #25
Monstress #7
Reborn #1
Sex #32
Shutter #23

Perfect Pulls: Image has no shortage of great books, and no shortage of regular new titles, either. However, I’m hard-pressed to think of a recent Image title with more hype and anticipation than the debut of today’s Reborn. Frank Millar’s most recent epic, combined with Greg Capullo’s art? That combination has a lot of people chomping at the bit to get their hands on this book, myself included! Don’t let this one pass you by; I suspect we’ll be talking about it for a while.

Perfect Pulls: Bond, James Bond returns this week with Dynamite’s latest, Hammerhead. While the last Bond series didn’t really pan out the way I wanted, this one promises to be more of the over-the-top spy epic you’d expect from the recent films. That’s the kind of Bond I dig most, so I’ll definitely be giving this a shot. Fans of Titan better budget accordingly as well, as they debut four new titles today, including a tie-in to the massive Warhammer 40000 line.

Those are the highlights for Wednesday, October 12th. Anything you simply can’t live without, or simply can’t imagine reading? Share it in the comments!
