Truth In Journalism – A Love Letter To Cinema & Comics

Last year at SDCC attendees were surprised with the screening of a short film called Dirty Laundry produced by Adi Shankar, directed by Phil Joanou (Gridiron Gang), and starring Thomas Jane (The Punisher, The Mist) reprising his role as the Punisher. The film was a neat little short that out does all three attempts at a Punisher movie in under 10 minutes.

This year Adi Shankar brought another short film to SDCC called Truth In Journalism, directed by Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2) and starring Ryan Kwanten (True Blood). I may have spoiled the little twist to Dirty Laundry but it is really your fault for not seeing a year old short that is definitely worth your time. I will not do the same for Truth In Journalism though. What I will say is that it is a homage to the French film, Man Bites Dog, a little American Psycho thrown in for good measure, and a nice little comic book twist that should please some fans out there. It may if go a long way of cleaning out the bad taste a certain movie sequel left regarding a certain character.

In case you were curious, Man Bites Dog is a French film from 1992 about a film crew that follows a very personable serial killer as he goes about  his day to day routine.
