Trailer for SONNO PROFONDO Revisits Giallo Roots

Sonno Profondo (aka Deep Sleep) is channeling it’s Italian Giallo history and it looks damn good! Its got the grainy look, the black gloved killer, and of course the mystery! I’ve been a big fan of 70s Italian horror cinema for as long as I can remember, hell they basically are the reason I have dedicated my life to visiting Italy at all costs.

Luciano Onetti seems to be calling back on the greats in this trailer with the use of POV and voice-over narration. Just from the trailer I can tell Onetti really loves the film style of the 70s that brought the horror genre so many classics. If you aren’t familiar with Giallo I would recommend checking out he following films: Blood & Black Lace, Deep Red, and The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (NSFW). Each of those films will offer you an introduction into what Giallo exactly is and why you should love them! Also, kick ass soundtracks.

Personally I’d love to see a new wave of Italian horror cinema come through again, it would be great to see what influences filmmakers would include in their films.

Official Plot:

After murdering a woman, a killer that is traumatized from his childhood memories, gets a mysterious envelope slipped under his door. The hunter becomes the prey when he finds out that the envelope contains photos that show him killing the young woman.
