Quality storytelling has never been the first thing that has come to mind when I think Halo.  I think “Excellent multiplayer gaming” and “teabagging the crap out of Randy and Justin’s characters”.  But I guess the Halo mythos must have enough going in its space-marines-versus-aliens plotline to warrant not one, but two series.  The first is Halo: Nightfall, which is being executive produced by Ridley Scott, and will serve as a lead-up to Halo 5: Guardians.  The series follows Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) agents as they attempt to investigate terrorist activity on the colony world of Sedra.

I am pretty underwhelmed by this trailer. If it didn’t have Halo in the title I don;t think I would give it a second glance. The series will be released November 11th with Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Xbox One, a game that will require only 85GB of your 362GB hard drive.  The first episode of Nightfall will premiere the day prior, November 10th, as part of the official HaloFest livestream.

Here’s the official synopsis for Halo: Nightfall:

Taking place between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo:Nightfall follows the origin story of legendary manhunter Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and his team as they are caught in a horrific terrorist attack while investigating terrorist activity on the distant colony world of Sedra. Led by Locke, the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) agents are forced to coordinate with a Sedran commander with a remarkable history and deep-rooted mistrust of ONI. As the plot unravels, they’re drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact where they’re forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives. Agent Locke is a new character in the Halo universe poised to play a major role in Halo 5: Guardians releasing on Xbox One in 2015.
