Top 10 Movies We Actually Need in 3D

With all these classics being brought back in 3D form, I’m starting to wonder if some of these films actually need to be converted into three dimensions. Dr. No is a classic, but I wouldn’t call it visually stunning. Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies of all-time, but the dinosaurs are only present for a quarter of the movie (well I’m going to see it anyway so maybe that one doesn’t count). The point is that some of these films that are being brought back are just fine the way they are and have no visual benefit that would come from 3D. I swear if they bring back The Joy Luck Club, we’ll know they’ve gone too far. Anways, here are my top 10 films that we actually need in 3D.

10. STARSHIP TROOPERS

Yeah this movie is about as awesomely bad as you can get, but it’s got some stunning visual effects that still look good to this day. Just look past the crappy dialogue and Denise Richards’ constant smiling (regardless of the situation) and you’ll have one heck of a fun ride!

9. DESTROY ALL MONSTERS

This one is more just for me. The awesome thing about Destroy All Monsters is that it’s an all-out monster battle royal. Not only do you have Godzilla wrecking havoc, you’ve got a whole slew of Japanese monster madness with him. From Mothra to King Ghidorah, this movie has it all!

8. 300

This movie was made for the 3D era. Nuff said!

7. EVENT HORIZON

This movie is still terrifying today. Though one wonders why they made the actual Event Horizon ship so creepy and gothic-looking, it would make for great 3D. This unforgettable movie gave me nightmares as a kid. I guess I’m just a glutton for punishment asking to watch it again with up close and personnel visuals. I say bring it!

6. TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY

Of all the movies that haven’t been converted to 3D, this one probably boggles my mind the most. Great action. Great visual effects. Sounds like a recipe for an awesome 3D movie to me.

5. THE THING (1982)

This movie still looks pretty darn good today. The creature effects look amazing. The horror and intensity is still shocking. I say bring this one back!

4. GLADIATOR

I will admit that I’m all “epic movied” out. I’m tired of swords and fantasy, but this movie is epic epic. Great sword fights accompanied by stunning visuals. Why are we still talking about this?

3. THE FIFTH ELEMENT

fifth

This movie takes the visual cake. It still looks great and would be incredible in 3D. The shot where Milla jumps off the building and into Willis’ cab. Wow! I say enough talking, just do it already!

2. ALIEN/ ALIENS

This is tie. Both are perfect examples of sci-f- horror greatness. The claustrophobic nature of Alien and the awesome action of Aliens would be awesome in 3D. Forget Prometheus 2 or whatever they end up calling it and spend the money on these bad boys!

1. THE MATRIX

I’m guessing that most of you saw this coming. This is one of the best and original sci-fi movies ever made. The bullet time. The Kung Fu. The effects. The music. If a movie ever needed to be converted into 3D it would surely be this one!

Well, there you have it. Did I leave out any of your favorites? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Keep it classic,
