The Office to End After Season 9

Posted on August 21, 2012 at 2:11 pm by Justin Cavender

Greg Daniels, Executive Producer for The Office, announced the upcoming ninth season will end the series. Daniels will also be taking over as showrunner for the final season from Paul Lieberstein.

“We’re going to have a lot of familiar faces coming back,” Daniels said. Over the last eight seasons many characters have come and gone. Viewers are probably wondering if Michael Scott will make an appearance at some point. Daniels did respond with “We would certainly wish for it. We’re not going to put so much pressure on Steve by writing something that could only work if he returned.”

Viewers will also see who is behind the documentary of  Dunder Mifflin. Cameras have been following the paper company employees for so long, it will be fun to finally meet the film crew.

We should mention Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor) will be starring in her own show, The Mindy Project on FOX. Meanwhile, The Farm, a possible spinoff for Dwight Schrute, will be explored in an episode of The Office.

Catch all new episodes of The Office when it returns for its final season on September 20, at 9PM ET/PT on NBC.

It might be cool if Michael Scott came back for one episode. As long as Holly doesn't come with him. BLEH

Agreed, I couldn't stand her character.

The show tool a steep dive when Carell left. Here's hoping the Dwight spinoff works out. I'm worried that without Jim, Dwight's no fun.

A Dwight spinoff just sounds like a trainwreck of epic proportions.

When Jim and Pam finally got together, the show took a steep dive. There was very little to care about until the Erin and Andy love triangle with Gabe. Then Michael left and the show hit the bottom of the cliff. It's sad to say, but I'm glad the ninth season will be the last.

Hell, I though it was already over. At least it was in my mind.
