The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild E3 2016

Today during E3 2016 Nintendo finally revealed new footage and a full title for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The long awaited game has been met with a few delays and it was recently announced it’s scheduled to launch simultaneously for both the Wii U console and Nintendo’s next system, code-named NX, in 2017. While this news did strike a few nerves for current Wii U owners, we just have to suck it up and remember good things come for those who wait. This includes and is not limited to price drops, bundles, and new consoles…

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild breaks boundaries for the franchise and for games as a whole,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “Where you go, how you get there, the order in which you do it, and the items, weapons and approaches used to solve puzzles and defeat enemies are all up to you.”

This new installment in the Zelda franchise will take players in different directions as it breaks all the rules of conventional Zelda gameplay. For example according to the press release “many of the minor enemies are no longer scattered randomly around the world, as many now live together in colonies. Link can climb towers and massive structures to get a bearing on his surroundings. He can even reach the top of mountains – any mountain he can see, he can climb. He can paraglide to lower areas or even use his shield to slide down a mountain. Link will travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks.”

A new climate dynamic will also play a key role in the game. So pay attention to changes in climate, as a shift in weather or temperature can affect the environment and Link’s ability to survive. Rain could douse your campfire or a lightning storm might strike Link’s metallic weapons. Players might need to bundle up with warmer clothes or change into something more comfortable whilst traversing through the desert heat.

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild boasts more than 100 Shrines of Trials throughout the landscape, waiting to be discovered and explored in any order players see fit. Additionally, puzzles in the game might have multiple answers, and secrets can be found everywhere.

This trailer certainly breathes new life into the The Legend of Zelda franchise and we can’t wait to get our geeky hands on this beast.
