According to Variety, screenwriter/producer Simon Kinberg just finished the script for the upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four, and thus testing for the roles of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) will start soon. The front-runners at the moment seem to be Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now21 and Over) and Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), with the possibility of Richard Madden (Game of ThronesKlondike) also testing to play Richards.

As far as the other characters go, it looks like Kate Mara (House of CardsIron Man 2) and Saoirse Ronan (HannaThe Lovely Bones) will test for Sue Storm, and Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale StationFriday Night Lights the TV show) is currently attached as Johnny Storm, although the casting will also depend on his chemistry with other potential actors.

Judging by the actors currently being talked about, this reboot is going much younger than the last Fantastic Four movie. Maybe it’s because I have that one in mind, but I was particularly struck by how everyone currently under consideration just seems a little too young? I’m not very familiar with Teller’s work, so I don’t know how he’d far in a comic book movie, but I think Kit Harrington could do anything and I’ll still love watching it. As for Mara and Ronan in the role of Sue Storm, I’ve only seen them play incredibly serious roles, so I’m curious to see whether The Fantastic Four is planning on going the serious route, or if this will be a chance for these women to be a little more comedic. Finally, Michael B. Jordan is an amazing actor, so as long as he stays attached, I think this movie might actually be good.

We should hear some casting confirmations within the next couple of months, though there’s no word yet on when shooting is slated to start. Kinberg will direct along with Josh Trank, and The Fantastic Four is set to release on June 19, 2015.
