The Falcon Takes Up the Shield as new Captain America

Marvel has dropped their second major reveal of the week, and this one is just as impressive. On The Colbert Report, Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada revealed that Sam Wilson, otherwise known as The Falcon, will take on the mantle and become the new Captain America.

In the current Captain America title, Steve Rogers has severely aged, having lost all traces of the super soldier serum that made him so powerful. However, the world needs a Captain America, and this time Bucky Barnes can’t help. But if the shield can’t go to Cap’s oldest partner, who better to inherit it than his closest friend? For the first time, Steve Rogers gets to choose his successor, and that man is Sam Wilson.

Will The Falcon shine as the new Cap? We’ll find out in All-New Captain America #1, out later this year, from Rick Remender and Stuart Immonen.

What do you think of this new Cap? Who were you hoping it would be? Let us know in the comments!
