STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Cast Revealed; First Image Revealed

The good folks at Disney didn’t make us wait until Star Wars Day (May 4th) to get the Star Wars: Episode VII cast.  After months and months of speculation, the cast has officially been announced to coincide with the table read (when the word would have leaked anyway).  Some of the names we knew, some are a complete surprise, and others are a welcome return (we knew R2-D2 would be back, but so is the original man in the can, Kenny Baker!) John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings), Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter), and Max von Sydow (Minority Report) are the new kids on the block. Serkis and Gleeson came to me as a complete and welcome surprise. The inclusion of Serkis all but guarantees a CGI character and Gleeson was amazing in About Time. Driver has long been rumored to be one of the film’s villains, but I dare you to tell me that Sydow is not the perfect elder Sith for the new trilogy. Keep checking back her in the coming days as I am sure this is not the last we will hear from our friends at Star Wars.

So now the new waiting game begins before we start hearing about spoilers and plot points from the new trilogy. Make sure to come back to Geek Legacy later today when we release this week’s podcast. It is Star Wars themed, and awesome to boot.  Star Wars: Episode VII opens December 18, 2015.
