STAR WARS: EPISODE II & III 3D release dates set

Lucasfilm announced the release dates for Star Wars Episode II :Attack of the Clones and Episode III:Revenge of the Sith at Celebration VI.  They are September 20, 2013 and October 11, 2013, respectively.  That puts Episode III about 4-5 months ahead of schedule.  That’s good news for Star Wars purists who are waiting for the Original Trilogy before investing their time and money in the 3D conversion.

I saw Episode I in 3D and the effects were good, especially the podrace, almost felt like being on Star Tours.  There are several key scenes that I think will look amazing in 3D, but the scene that stands out most to me is the opening space battle of Episode III.  With the stellar vistas, and kinetic star fighter action it should be quite a spectacle.  No release dates were set for the Original Trilogy, but we can hope for them to be released in yearly intervals starting in 2014.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D opened this February, and earned $43 million at the box office.
