Splinter Cell Movie Casts Sam Fisher

Ubisoft is looking to get two of its major game franchises the movie treatment. The first one being Assassin’s Creed and the second being Splinter Cell. The Splinter Cell movie has already gained some steam and has cast Sam Fisher.

We already heard that Michael Fassbender (X-Men First Class) was going to play the assassin Altair, but now it’s been announced that Tom Hardy (Dark Knight Rises, Inception) will portray Sam Fisher. Ubisoft expects both movies to be released in 2013, although gave no indication exactly when next year.

Like the casting choice for Assassin’s Creed, I’m completely on board with this. Hardy is a very good actor and he seems to fit in with Ubisoft casting up-and-coming names in lieu of already established stars. The Splinter Cell games are great and I believe they could easily be translated into a believable script.

What do you Geeks think? Like the choice for Sam Fisher? Think Eric Johnson got screwed out of this?
