Seinfeld Reunion In the Works, Will Air “Very, Very Soon”

It’s probably safe to say that the majority of us spent the 90’s glued to the TV every Thursday night in anticipation of the latest episode of Seinfeld. It was everyone’s favorite show in my family, at least, so much so that playing the Scene It? trivia game was an intense and competitive affair where a lot of feelings were trampled on. Fourteen years later, the show about “nothing” may be getting an official reunion. Last week, Jerry Seinfeld and his former co-star Jason Alexander were spotted outside Tom’s Restaurant, the facade of Seinfeld‘s iconic diner where Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer hung out in nearly every episode.

At the time, the speculation went that Seinfeld was just filming another episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but now it seems that there may be a not-so-secret Seinfeld reunion project in the works. In a radio appearance on WFAN’s “Boomer & Carton” radio show yesterday morning, Seinfeld teased that he and Alexander were actually filming something else. From the interview:

Was it filmed?

“Yes it was. It was filmed.”

Were other Seinfeld characters involved?

“Yes there were.”

Was it a short-form or a long-form filming?

“It’s a short-ish form.”

Was Jason Alexander playing George or himself?

“George.”

Was Larry David involved?

“He was involved.”

Was he on camera?

“No.”

Was his voice heard?

“No.”

When will we see this?

“Very, very soon.”

Was this a one-and-done or will there be more?

“I think it’s one-and-done.”

Is it longer than 60 seconds?

“Yes.”

Was Jason surprised to get the phone call for this?

“No, he remembers that he played that character for many years. He was not surprised that he was asked to play George.”

While Seinfeld was extremely coy about what the project is and isn’t, I think this is still enough to go on in terms of calling it a reunion. If you want to listen to the whole interview yourself, just head on over here to download the show. Are you excited for a Seinfeld reunion?
