Sam Mendes not likely to direct another Bond film

Sam Mendes was asked by Metro if he would be returning for another Bond film in light of all the praise that Skyfall is receiving. While not a 100% no, the outcome looks grim, but we will see how it pans out if Skyfall is as big a hit as they are predicting. Check out all of our Skyfall coverage here.

“It’s been a fantastic experience, but it’s been completely exhausting. Do I want to do another one? I’m a shadow of my former self! No, I don’t know. I felt like everything I wanted to with a Bond movie, I put into this film.

“I would have to be convinced that I could do something that I loved and cared about as much if I was to do it again,” he continues. “I think the great risk of repeating oneself is that one doesn’t have the great store of ideas that you have when you first tackle a project.”

Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCrory, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens internationally on October 26th, in US IMAX theaters on November 8th, and in US conventional theaters on November 9th.

This is disappointing news.  Mendes was a huge favorite to take over the franchise and Skyfall looks amazing. Here’s hoping that it is a great success and he has to come back.
